There's no chance I'm paying £14.00 a month extra for the HD channels. I do want them but that's ludicrous when i have 2 V+ boxes a VHD box, my broadband, phone and mobile with them. Surley there should be some discount....

Sky have the early games on Sunday 6pm ,9.15pm,Thursday night games after thanksgiving and all the play off games. ESPN have Monday night football from September. Five had the late Sunday game up to the end of last season, they now have some game show through the night and will not be doing NFL this season. NFLUK are trying to get SNF on fta, but where is unknown.

If You have already had sky give them a ring i did,Sky world half price for 12 months and no hd charge alot cheaper than vm premium channel charge even before the annoucement and get sports 3+4 as well.Just watched money in the bank in glourious HD,£24.25 per month,My mate as just rung and got same deal he wasnt happy with the rumoured hd price hike from vm either.

aye if the £7 for everypackage for sports movies hD is right theres only ever going to be one winner here it not vm it be sky sadly and lots will move to get the full sports package in HD and full red button service vm will lose customers if it £7 for every package as vip didnt get any discount on sport movies sd versions so that a double wammy not getting discount then charging for hd versions

everyone needs to calm down just a bit... nothing has been announced, and untill it is, people should reserve judgment till then.

I refuse to believe any rumors, no matter who there sources are... no ones, actually knows anything yet, despite what that may think.

So let me get this correct, I have a V+ box (VIP package), I get the pay extra for the movies & sport channels, and to receive these in HD I have to pay even more? so well have sd channels that we are paying for but will never watch.

There has been nothing official yet.. so do not listen to people telling you have to pay, we dont know yet.

yes, but all it takes is one person to speculate this, then before you know it it is widespread, this is how most rumors grow to be nothing but a myth.

I am sure there will be a charge for the lower packages, but as for XL and VIP, we just do not know. Think about it, there had been other speculation, not just the £7. It has been £10, then £7, amongst many more.

Here's hoping when the official announcement is made, we will all be happy. But I just keep thinking to myself, we get all this free HD, and have managed for a while now without the premium sky hd channel , and now we will have access to them, people are complaining they have to pay... it does go to show, some people are never happy.

If the rumour turns out to be true then this would surely make a mockery of their current advertising campaign of 'No Monthly HD Fee', yes I know that this does not say anything about the Premium channels, but if I had just signed a 12 month contract with VM under the provision that there would be NO monthy HD fee then I would be pretty annoyed.

On another note if the fee turns out to be per box then could you just add the HD premium channels to 1 box.

VM engineer said Sky charge them per box so they got to pass down that charge to the customers.

He also said you can pre order the channels sometime this week, maybe tomorrow.

I'll just get it on one box.

Their website at the moment still states no monthly fee for ANY HD channels.

They will need to do some back tracking soon.

Yes but my problem is for the likes of us XL and VIPs if you subscribe to Sky Sports the price has not dropped for us but has for the other packages so how could they justify charging us top package payers for HD sport on top, I would be better off dropping my package to gain.

The current TV product that is being advertised whilst saying "Unlike Sky, we don't charge a monthly fee to watch HD." as well as "And there are more channels being added all the time" (both from here clearly giving the indication that any more HD channels added will also come under the banner of "we don't charge a monthly fee to watch HD". There are no terms attached to the point VM don't charge for HD, there is no subtext that states subject to change and they may in future charge, it's clear and simple, no charge for HD.

Anyone taking up a contract under the free HD campaign could VERY easily argue breach of contract based on VM then charging for HD, regardless on if it's on new channels.

Means SS3HD and SS4HD definitely not on Virgin with Sky's campaign that Sky is the only place to get all five sports channels.

I am fascinated to see how Virgin market a charge for SS1HD and SS2HD with their websites and fliers all claiming it will be at no extra cost.

UNLESS - there is a whole new pricing structure involved where sports and movies become sold on a per box basis for SD and HD - that means they can hide the HD fee within an all in box-by-box subscription?

They haven't, but they say no extra fee for their HD channels (see image below from my post above)

I am sure legally VM can change prices and pull this campaign to then charge for HD, but it will be completely contradictory to the advertising which is still out there.

I am sure that Sky Sports HD will be an HD channel?

Exactly my point, Yes Sky do charge £10 for HD pack but there is nothing hidden £10 for 43 HD channels not £7 for 12 or 2 if you just want sports

That equates to 23 pence/ channel on sky compared to VM at 58 pence/ channel.

Don't get me wrong I agree with what Ben is saying in that packages & products change, but I think that VM have cocked up big time they should have charged for HD from day 1. IMO they could stand to loose customers to sky that want the premium HD channels.

If they charge I go, if they don't I stay, its as simple as that with me, I aint got anything to lose but they will lose my custom and other peoples I dare say if they start banging on charges to VIP's when they never lowered the Sky Sports price through th of-com ruling

Why don't we wait and see what happens when the Sky Premium channels are offically announced. If people want to start taking Virgin to court after that, then it's their choice.
