A large cage at the surface. Fill with illegal immigrants and allow to descend under gravity generating electricity. Yet Reform have previously said they want to reopen mines in South Wales, without mentioning that it would cost billions.

So who decides who gets any cheaper electricity? Would start a bidding war and you're right back where you started. How else do you think oil and gas prices are determined?

Turn that round. The price of electricity is currently set by the price of gas. Not by wind, or solar, or even nuclear. If 10% of the country’s electricity is generated by gas, why should it set the price for the other 90% of generation when the cost of using other power sources is significantly lower?

In the last 12 months, 25% of our electricity was generated by Gas, at times it was double that, today (so far) its 26.3%.

As well as being for Electricity only, it turns out this is only for 6 months as well - VAT will return to 5% on April 1st 2027.

I may be wrong but was the vat cut only on Electric ?

Yes, which as I posted, means VAT is still applied to the larger gas bills over the winter period. I would have preferred it the other way round to save me a few quid
