Spring does not arrive until 21 March, when the day and night are of equal length (the spring equinox). Not the 1st!

Lo and behold, on that day it will be a barmy 9 degrees in London, and no sign of any snow!

Actually, the first day of spring this year is March 20th (until June 21st). Same in 2019 as well. :)

Yes, there are minor variations from one year to the next, but if everyone keeps the 21st in mind for equinoxes and solstices, they won't go far wrong! They will be a lot more accurate than the meteorologists!

Well looking at the next few weeks its not going to be that barmy even in April.

Well, spring always disappoints because everyone has such high expectations of it.

In most years, the heat doesn't get here until about mid-May.

By the way, no-one can forecast as far ahead as April from now and have much chance of accuracy!

I have indeed, Den, but there are many variables that affect our weather in this part of the world.

Quote from The Weather Channel:

The current cold snap will soon end - but there is a big threat of more snow and below-average temperatures returning for the Easter period.

Some forecasts predict a blast of bitter air from the Arctic sweeping across Britain during the run-up to the holiday as high pressure builds north of the country.

This could allow icy, cold winds to plunge across the UK with the chance of further snow falls bringing a White Easter in some areas.

Conditions will become unsettled with temperatures starting to edge upwards later this week with longer periods of drier and bright weather coupled with some heavy rain.

There is still uncertainty for the Easter Weekend but computer data suggests that the area of high pressure lodged to the north of the country could allow colder Arctic air to stream across Britain.
Beast from the East III, just in time for the clocks to go forwards. :erm:

No surprise really with the Sudden Stratospheric Warming (SSW) still having a effect on the weather.

I'd better get up early and go grab a loaf and 4 pints of milk before the panic brigade watch the news.

Well, I live in the south of England and I can tell you I'm not expecting snow here!

We are in a valley and usually get rain when everywhere else gets snow but we did have a couple of inches this year and had the idiots emptying the bread shelves and fridges it was a bit embarassing tbh.
