Justly opinion, I'm sure others will disagree but I think the TiVo will do me fine :)

It is, but for various reasons, that's not always practical.

I think I used the reminder function once on my old V+ box. Anything I want to watch to the degree I would set a reminder would be set up to record anyhow.

I fully agree with you on that one, but some people like reminder functionality.

But there's a principle going on here. There are some things V+ did better than Tivo and we're being told by Stephen we should ignore them and not complain about the lack of them; how dare we challenge, 'The mighty Tivo'?

You've nailed it.
  • Reminders? Don't be silly, you don't and never have needed them! I've never used them so you don't have to either, OK? Besides, its TiVo!
  • Picture quality? Ptfff. Its TiVo, silly!
  • Padding? Seriously? C'mon! Its TiVo!
  • Jesus, don't tell me you have to know if you've watched a recording? Gawd, are you stupid or something....you don't deserve TiVo if you need that.
;)

Knowing whether you've watched something or not is needed , I've not got TIVO but on the two PVR's ive used V+ and Sky+HD this is available.

It won't make the sounds if you're watching an HD channel as they use Dolby Digital for the audio. If you go into the audio settings and change it to "Dolby Digital to PCM" it will make the sounds and will also make the HD channels have the same audio volume as the SD channels.

No, Charge is per account, not per box.

Other than reminders, I can't think of one other thing that the V+ did better than Tivo

Subjective. Some say it's better; some say it's not.

Global padding may be nice but its not absolutely required.

Which is, of course, absolutely fine. They'll just have to put up with being wrong :p:
