An email off Cindy Rose stating ESPN wanted to much for ESPNA HD , it's the same old line all the time and like Mersey70 has said always will be under their current free HD policy.

Can you provide a link where Virgin are trying to get channels "ridiculously cheap"......

Apart from telling Sky that the price they want for Atlantic is way too high I don't know of any.

They are of course trying to pay what they feel is a sustainable price that means they can compete with Sky and thats what the whole Ofcom thing was about...........

As to ITV 2,3 & 4 HD no-one knows as far as I know what the deal is that they have with Sky and if subs etc are based on being exclusive or if Sky helped pay for them to be set up as well.

Thats a list of "HD" channels not just "channels" as was being discussed.......

I was asking for a list of channels that are available and not on VM and are not niche products.

We all know whats not on VM HD wise

I contacted Cindy Rose in January regarding ESPNA HD and was told "The channel is expensive and we are trying very hard to work with ESPN to find a way to make it available to our customer base affordably. Please bear with us while we complete these discussions...
Still no news are they still in negotiations? several other people have asked the same question over the last 9 months and get similar answers, or lack of capacity.:(

If you have the option to do so, then go to SKY it really is that simple. If you continue to stay with Virgin paying them your hard earned money for a service your not happy with then when it boils right down to it your a mug.

Yep its that easy mate :D

It's not that simple or easy. Both VM and Sky offer things that are better than each other. I'd like loads of HD channels, but i want TIVO functionality.

I know you can split the services between the two companies, but for the best pricing, you're best having all services with one or the other. But sky's telephone package is cheaper than VMs and probably equal quality, but VMs broadband is better than Sky's.

Then there are repair costs, free with Virgin and cost with Sky (I know the threaten to leave tack that will be brought up with Sky). Then there is reliability and customer service. I can't speak for Sky as I've never been with them, but i know I'm very happy with VM's reliability and customer service.

So the Sky/VM decision isn't simple; it's a compromise for most people and I can se why people want to stick with VM but post asking for more HD channels. And I can see why people who's main priority is lots of HD go to Sky.

Its the same old excuses that Virgin use all the time, l remember them saying we will get all the channels we can get to complete with Sky.

A phone is a phone mate what do you mean equal quality , Sky phone is miles cheaper than VM , in fact VM phone service is one of the dearest available.

So, that'll be a "No", then.....;)

It couldn't possibly be something like the reason that Sky are being investigated by Ofcom, could it, that their incremental retail rates are lower than the wholesale rate they offer to BT/VM/etc, or that suppliers of channels bundle them together in packages at an increased price - obviously not......

Obviously the content providers aren't trying to get the best deal for themselves, either - that's why it's called "negotiation".....

There's faults on both sides, but I find it dreadfully amusing that some posters seem to think VM are doing this deliberately to p their customers off (and if they don't think that, they post like they think that).

Whats the excuse for not adding ITV HD channels , Nat Geo Wild HD , History HD , Disney Cine and XD HD , universal HD , Bio HD , ESPNA HD , EDen HD , Crime HD , Nickelodeon HD , I know we'll just blame Sky for that as well.

No - perhaps they can't get a good costing for them; people would/have objected when the prices go up.

I can imagine the outrage - "I didn't want these channels, why does my price have to increase!!!".

Especially the UK TV HD channels which VM own 50%.:(

They have just put the prices up again for nothing new.

It's also funny as Berkett says Sky want to much money and Sky say VM don't want to pay for Atlantic .

Sky's view

Our prices have already increased twice in the last 9 months but they have added absolutely nothing to our package , in matter of fact they have removed several channels in the last few months.
