Now he was a proper keeper.

Got to be honest I don't see much difference between VDS and De Gea. In his last few seasons VDS made loads of mistakes, constantly got beat at his near post, didn't have a good command on the 6 yard box and had some dodgy decision making.

Apart from one having a world class name behind him he got away with making a few mistakes.

Lindegaard seems to be the future he's quote solid and seems to know what he is going

VDS was one of the best shot-stoppers of his time. The problem is we're always looking for the new Schmeicel and keepers like him come just once in a generation. De Gea has been thrown in the deep end and at 21 he looks like a deer caught in the headlights. maybe in 3 or 4 years he'll have more to offer but right now he's a liability.

yes VDS was a goodshot stopper but then most keeps are very good at that anyway. He never once spoke to the defence and as I said didn't have great command of the 6 yard box either. He relied too much on punching the ball and more than once punched it to the other team who then scored.

De Gea isn't that bad a shop stopper either but is found wanting in other areas much like VDS was too.

Lindegaard should be the number one now

I don't watch my hometown but it does put a smile on my face seeing them climb up the leagues and do well in the FA Cup. Heres hoping Sanchez Watt, Arsenal player on loan here works wonders

Yes its wonderful to see a new team do well after being promoted from the conference and even better to see them cause a shock in the cup as well.

Obviously we let Brighton win because we are so focused on getting on ITV4 next season we can't be pansying about with the FA Cup.

Guinea have kept their Africa Cup of Nations hopes alive after hammering Botswana 6-1 in Franceville.

The Guineans took control after Botswana were reduced to 10 men in the first-half.

Substitute Patrick Motsepe was sent-off after a dangerous tackle on Pascal Feindouno in the 45th minute.

Ibrahima Traore scored from the ensuing free-kick. Sadio Diallo scored twice and there were also goals for Naby Soumah, Abdoul Camara and Mamadou Bah

Liverpool have made a remarkable bid to swap Andy Carroll with Carlos Tevez and move on their club-record £35m signing not even a year after signing him from Newcastle United.
LOL!!! Nice try Liverpool.

I hear that has submitted a improved bid by removing Andy Carroll from the deal.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

But the trouble we would be replacing a £35m total misfit with another player who throws the dummy out of the pram on a regular basis and my own opinion is to wait for the right bid to come along for Carroll and then look for a decent out and out goalscorer after that and also as a stopgap we could try to get a decent striker on loan to fill in while we are waiting to get rid of him.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson backed goalkeeper David de Gea despite the 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round defeat by Liverpool at Anfield.

De Gea, recalled in place of Anders Lindegaard for the fourth-round tie, hesitated to claim Steven Gerrard's first-half corner, allowing Daniel Agger to head into an unguarded net.

United's Ji Sung-Park levelled before Dirk Kuyt struck a last-gasp winner.

"Our own players created a problem for the first goal," said Ferguson.

"They didn't give him [De Gea] enough room to deal with it."
