I think the blizzard prediction for the South and South-West is more solid though as storm Emma coming up from Biscay buts into the "Beast from the East" |

It's a line like this that caused the Boscastle flooding as rain/snow moves along the line of the convergence so a few miles either side has fine weather yet on the line it comes down for hours on end. |
Re: Snow !
Expecting upto 4cm tomorrow and the 6-12cm Friday but turning to rain - lovely.
Hope that despite some folk moving away we still get the community snow dig where folk in the road spend the day clearing the snow from the road and old peoples paths. Nice community effort and good fun. Can't drive so do something useful. |
Re: Snow !
Keeps snowing here, we have about 2cm on the ground atm.

Re: Snow !
Work sent us home earlier as it's supposed to get much worse this afternoon which could have made getting home a problem.
Walked to the shop rather than risk driving as only the main roads are clear and it was a mission and a half. It's not so much the snow more the combination of it and we have had some hefty non stop winds since last night making it pretty tricky to stay upright. |
Re: Snow !
With the wind chill it was -8/9 this morning. Flurries of snow but not much of a ground cover as the sun keeps showing up.
Our postman has started wearing a coat and I'm guessing he may even put on long trousers instead of his shorts if this cold spell continues. |
Re: Snow !
The locking mechanism on the back door chose now of all times to give out. The hook and slidy bolt thing on the top half isn't deploying when you pull the handle up to engage so the door isn't being sealing tight resulting in the wind blowing right in the house. 40-50mph baltic gusts so no fun.
No chance of getting anyone out until this weather is past so desperate measures in the mean time :p: https://www.cableforum.uk/images/local/2018/03/1.jpg |
Re: Snow !
Schools closed so kids hoping for more snow but Met office downgraded our warning to yellow and snowfall to at most 4-6 cm.
Still work advised us not to travel unless really needed. |

A lot of energy going to waste there.

Re: Snow !
We have 3 to 4 inches on the ground here.
Schools are closed today and tomorrow, so my other half is happy :) |

My Tesco's was quite for the time of day I entered today, and my town wasn't hit that bad either.

Re: Snow !
Drove from Scunthorpe to York yesterday . . essential trip to pick up a guitar :D
No issues for me, back home in 3 hours. I'd thoroughly checked many web sites regarding road conditions before going though. A couple of incidents where lorries had slid off the road, I'd guess due to the high winds in certain areas. Services soon had them sorted and minimal disruption to traffic flow. :tu: |
