HBO aren't too happy about their programmes being unavailable to other pay providers , HBO may launch HBOUK once the deal with Sky is up.
Bit hypocritical from HBO really considering they told Netflix that they would never have HBO shows , although with the growth of Netflix exploding the way it has HBO are back in talks with Netflix. So you ever know.

I think it was more directed at Netflix US rather than the British one.

When is Skys deal with HBO up?

Would be marvellous if Netflix and HBO got an agreement to show their content on that platform cutting Sky out all together in the UK

How would launching HBOUK get their content seen by a wider audience ? Netflix reported in August 2013 it had 1.5 million UK subscribers for a service priced at £5.99 how many do you think would subscribe to HBO at a premium price for just their content , nowhere near that many in my opinion. Sky's deal with HBO ends in 2015 although its worth remembering Sky Deutschland also have a similar deal with HBO for Sky Atlantic in Germany.

Cause access to Sky Atlantic was, until very recently, a minimum of £21.50 a month. Also apparently the issue was that consumers were not given choice as to where they were to access the content, they had to go with Sky.

So still cheaper than HBO in the US were you need a basic tv sub then have to add HBO on as a premium.
