My thoughts as well! Though in a way this is just a replacement of the NTHW.com forum., which is being neutered.

This could be one of the most unusual starts to a new forum on the internet- as much of the userbase of NTHW.com simply migrates here.

It's just a shame that all the ntl-related archives of NTHW.com will be wiped. A lot of people's time and effort went into answering other peoples questions there and that will all be lost.

If anyone's reading this in the early hours of Tuesday 1st July, I'd recommend they read this thread and do a bit of last minute self-archiving of NTHW.com's forums!

They might delete the posts but they can't delete the knowledge that people have;) With so many .com members now here it won't be long before this site is filled with useful information and helpful posts - with so many useful members of .com supporting this site and here already, we're half way there:)

My name's Martin. I've currently got an NTL 1 Meg connection. I've had broadband for two years, upgrading to the 1 meg six months ago. So far I've had no connection problems, the speed in my area (Newport, S Wales) has been consistently good. Email was good until three or four months ago. Since then it's been utter sh*te, until this week, when it seems to have settled down.

I run three machines behind a router, a Silicon Graphics Workstation, an old HP 9000 Unix Box and a PC running mainly Linux but occasionally Windoze. No problems connecting any of these.

I almost forgot to bang on about the useless news servers that NTL give us. I've had to give up and read it via Google.

I was on the other site but rarely posted. I lurk but don't post unless I can make a worthwhile contribution..

To me it was obvious that once the .com site was sold to NTL it would be "neutered". A great shame but hopefully this site can and will take over. Personally, I'd rather not see mods from that site acting in that capacity here. Particularly those that were "poachers turned gamekeepers" if you get what I mean.
