Again none of them have had this level of hype around them. This is, at best, a slightly better version of GTA IV. Again this is a good game, it deserves to seen as a solid, well-executed, sequel to GTA IV. It doesn't belong in a list of the greatest games of all time, it doesn't deserve to tbe game of the year. Neither of this are big marks against it but that's the yardstick by which I measure it.

I'll keep playing it, at least until Beyond Two Souls comes out, and it will always be Grand Theft Auto. It's just I came into this expecting it to be something else, something amazing and game changing like playing the PS2 versions.

To be honest I don't think GTA IV was as good as the PS2 versions. GTA III was amazing, Vice City used atmosphere in a way I hadn't seen, San Andreas was a crystallization of those two breakthroughs. Since then I think they've played it safe.

Good games, but not innovative or different.

Last Of Us is a example of this. It changes what you expect from games and raises the standard for everyone else. GTA used to do that.

Well personally GTA V is high on my list of best games of 2013, beaten by Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3.

I couldn't compare this to GTV IV. there is just so much to this game and many fresh new things. Three main characters and intertwining story is one of the highlights.

snip....

Every version of COD has this amount of hype behind it, and claims of every year the 'most amazing COD game ever....' when the games have not been that amazing at all really.

COD doesn't have this level of hype about the quality or significance of the game. There is a lot of hype about it selling a bunch of copies and comparisons to Hollywood whilst a legion of fans clamor to buy it. However it's never hyped as a game of the year or a big moment in computer games. Everyone knows it's a further execution of a franchise that will sell well, is well made, and will be the best of it's game until the next one. This is what GTA is.

Again it's not at all a bad game. It's just a further refinement of a successful formula that leaves me slightly underwhelmed as a result. I don't think it deserves the accolades it's been given. EDGE gave it a 10/10.

Since it seems everyone was trying to find a game with huge hype around it that was identical to it's former entrant.

Halo.

Every WoW expansion available?

All three MW games were hyped as the biggest games of all time, especially MW2. Whilst COD 4 was sensational and a game of the year.

None of which are given quite as much plaudits from the gaming press. Halo is overrated IMO too.

Halo 3 had one of the biggest releases in history with parties around the globe for the launch... and it's critics scored it just as high as GTA V.

So? Besides Halo 3 was better than the subsequent releases. As I mentioned before my problem isn't it being a sequel but a lack of innovation or a genuine masterpiece. Halo 3 did that IMO. As did GTA III and Vice City. As did Resident Evil 4. However in all those cases the future releases stagnated. I don't think you can release the same game, albeit incrementally improved, and be one of the best games of all time. That belongs to it's predecessors that broke new ground.

This is an incremental improvement. A larger map, more characters, more missions. More of the same. One you stripe away the scale it's curiously empty of depth.

I do think this will become a more accepted view once the dust has settled. Look at the revisionist opinions of GTA IV as a very good game but not the groundbreaking epic it was hailed as, this will happen here because they haven't radically changed it. They added more of it. We'll have to wait and see about GTA: Online. That could change things but until then I maintain the same opinion of it.

Onto planning the third heist. Gave in today and used a cheat to spawn a vehicle as there were none around when I needed one.

Is that for real adzii? I see no other comment online about that at all.

I find it strange that after all the fuss with the release date and early deliveries that R* would decide to release GTA:O 5 days early.

When I looked into it earlier, I couldn't find anything.

I completed it today, i was a little disappointed. Thought the whole game was too easy, especially the last couple of missions.

Spoiler:
I went for option C in the last mission, don't know if the others were any more difficult to do?

Spoiler:
Think all much the same difficulty wise according to the strategy guide. I'm going to do 3 different saves at that point and do each ending.
