Yes that correct. But Hamas use homemade rockets.

It's absolutely shocking. The US have a vast amount of influence over the Israelis just as the Tehran-Damascus alliance moderate and pull the strings of Hezbollah and Hamas so not only do we have outside influences manipulating these proxy instruments of conflict but there's a lot of historical bad blood which already exists that neither side can see past. All this is with ordinary Palestinian and Israeli people stuck in the middle being killed left, right and centre.

There were reports in the media (including the BBC unsurprisingly) that the Hamas attacks were a response to Israeli incursions which occured before the cease fire expired. Now this seems very suspicious with the upcoming elections. Was this due to the Israelis stirring up trouble knowing that Hamas would respond or is it perhaps the spectre of creative journalism? I guess we'll never know as very few sections of the media can be trusted.

They probably borrowed that tactic from the US, the US has a history of provoking wars.

A special message to my friends on this forum, on this sad situation in Israel, and Gaza, please discuss this matter in a friendly manner and NOT bring into it race, religion or sarcastic comments, to each other, we don't need it, it is bad enough as it is, now we have problems on the streets of London, this problem has to be sorted out by diplomatic means, and not banging our heads together, and it has just been announced by Banker Moons of the UN, to have an immediate ceasefire.

As far as I can see Arthur there is only one poster who seems intent on turning this thread into some kind of holy war:shrug:
Continually using inflammatory language and hoping for another terrorist group to join the fray, pointless trying to debate with such extreme views.

I'm wondering about the timing of this situation. Why now?Why not 6 months ago.Why now?Possibly a new broom sweeping into the White House?Israeli elections?

It seems to me something has made someone desperate than usual..

No doubt it's a combination of both, I suspect they feel Obama will be less keen on supporting such a drastic and unwarranted reaction and want wipe out as much as Hamas and it's infrastructure as possible while President Bush is still in the White House.

It's also a reaction to a surge of rocket attacks from Hamas after a ceasefire expired.

I take it you are talking about me. Would you rather i use the Term JEWS or Zionists? I will use JEWS if you want but it defames the Jewish people.Zionists is the correct term to use as the agressors are not the Jewish people but the Zionists in control of the government. Wake up and smell the coffee, Israel is the agressor and most people are waking up to this fact.

I think it would be nice if, as has been requested above, everybody could resist the urge to inflame the discussion here in the same way that the situation in Gaza has been inflamed.

This is an emotive subject, it would be nice if people could have a little bit of repsect for the feelings of others whilst they were voicing their own opinions.

Re: Scores die in Israeli air strikes

I would also like to point out that the correct term to use to refer to the people of Israel is Israelis...

Jews would be inappropriate because Israelis are of many faiths including Christian and Muslim as well as Jewish.

So let's leave the term Zionist out of the discussion entirely...

The Hamas web page is routed via an Israeli backbone, or am I wrong? very strange....

Maggie is quite correct. Not all Israelis are Jews and, as missiles do not discriminate on grounds of religion, my earlier comment should have referred to 'Israelis' rather than 'Jews'. My apologies for that.

Telegraph 3rd January 2009
"The group had taken advantage of the ceasefire to smuggle weapons into Gaza through an enormous network of underground tunnels along the border with Egypt.
Their arms include Chinese and Iranian missiles with a range of more than 25 miles.
Smugglers brought them through piece-by-piece before concealing them in secure hide-outs."

TVNZ 14th November 2008
"Hamas fired Grad rockets at Israel on Friday, the longest range missile they have ever claimed to shoot at the Jewish state, a statement from the armed wing of the Islamist group said.

Israeli rescue services said five rockets struck the southern coastal city of Ashkelon but caused no casualties, as gunmen escalated rocket attacks in response to Israeli strikes that have killed 10 militants since Novomber 4.

A Hamas statement said its fighters had shot five 1960s-era Soviet-made Grad rockets at an Israeli town."

Globalsecurity gives a fuller explanation.

Unfortunately, any such 'facts' are likely to have been planted by pro-Zionist conspirators. ;)
