Unlimited is unsustainable, for any ISP especially if P2P is involved.

It's like motorways. Make them bigger, they just fill up again and sooner rather than later it's congested again and they start talking about charging for usage.

;)

A year from now, 10Mbps will seem pathetic and people will be demanding 100Mbps, and still everyone will be moaning about caps, traffic shaping, etc ;)...

... but at the end of the day 90% of them will be spending 90% of the time just browsing low bandwidth web sites :D. It's funny how many people complain about "unlimited" and "caps", but don't actually have a use for that much bandwidth ;)

I think the cap is even though the speed is been upped to 10mb, anyone downloading more than 50gb a month well needs to be looked into, who really needs that many movies, mp3s or applications without been questionned for the legality!

I would be interested to see a slight upload increase maybe to 500kb or more for gaming uses and hosting my own site

Has that 'bloke down the pub' got any ideas on what the uploads might be? I think that maybe the difference between getting a 5Mbps or a 10Mbps connection...

Would you not be unhappy if ntl gave the capped customers more UPLOAD speed than the unlimited people?

What is it with everyone getting a bee in thier bonnets about this unlimited issue?

With 75gb per month is that not enough?

Or maybe you all have terrabytes of storage in liquid cooled RAID arrays?

Just what do you all download? apart from linux distros?

I have a 200gb hard drive and today i have downloaded 6GB on a 1meg connection so if i had a 10meg line and a 75GB cap i would reach the cap in a few days :S lol

I think you are reading too much into this, as we don't know the full details of what is going to happen yet. You are making judgements on pure speculation.

I agree with Mick, I think services such as VoIP and some downstream services maybe excluded from this. But as i sad before do you really need more than 75gb is that was the limit anyway. I download some bit-torrent now and again, but i dont think i have ever exceed more than 20gb download per month

Besides do you really want to be the guy in your local area responsible for actually caning everyones connection, you do have to take into the limitations of the upload to download ratios and how they are effected on cable

Oh so original with your linux distros quote  Change the record and come up with something new will you :erm: Just because you don't feel the need to download over 75gb a month doesn't mean other people have to feel that way to. Why do you think ukonline offer 500gb a month...simply because they know there is a market for it.

Do enlighten me then...

pr0n? Warez? dvd rips?

Why else would a home user need *that* much bandwidth?

Come on, tell me I am *really* interested to know just *what* you all fill your raid arrays with?
