Sweeney Todd 5/10
I wanted to like it, all the acting was great, it all looked very nice, but as stupid as this sounds, the singing kind of ruined it :( |

The Invasion
Nichole Kidman and Daniel "I cant act" Craig star in a 2007 remake of invasion of the body snatchers. Quite good in places & let down by poor acting in others. Worth watching though. 8\10 |

That's whay I said "As stupid as this sounds" 'cos it's kind of a silly thing to say about a musical, that the singing ruined it. I knew it orignally was one. Depp's singing didn't ruin it, I dunno, depends if you want to see a David Bowie tribute act ;) None of the singing was bad, I just didn't enjoy the singing. Not my cup of tea rather than a fault of the film if you see what I mean. |

Bee Movie
Not the best Dreamworks movie but quite entertaining...kept my kids quiet for the duration , so it can't be that bad (I rather enjoyed it too) 7/10 |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Just back from Cloverfield, firstly Matt D summed it up perfectly earlier "The Blair Godzilla Project".
Secondly - IF you want to see this, don't wait for DVD, get to the cinema as its an audio tour de force, my ears are ringing. Thirdly, its THE most UNBELIEVABLY frustrating movie i've ever enjoyed, you either want to smack some sense into some of them (Blair Witch parallels again) or tell them to turn that friggin camera in the direction of something interesting, because most of the time all you see is the wall, or a path etc whilst it sounds like World War 3 is kicking off in any other direction other than where the camera is pointing. DAMN im frustrated.... :grr: As for marks, hell knows, i enjoyed it, but i feel like strangling a cat; however based on the fact i think it deserves a second viewing and for some reason i was on the edge of my seat, im going for an 8. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
I have good surround and a bloody big screen so it will do here in my home cinema ;)
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Your surround sound better be very good then to get the same feeling as you do in the cinema, when the monster walks ;)
|
re: Rate the last movie you saw
well you may be surprised my set up is pretty good. Also when I watch films alone there isnt any giggling or crunching of popcorn or talking or people walking in front of me and if i need a wazz I pause it. Enough plus points there me things thats without my kit
70 inch+ depending on aspect ratio projector and screen. Denon cinema amp with full DTS EX and Dolby Digital ES Kef front and centre speakers maundaunt short surround and mission passive surround all finished off with a 200 watt yamaha sub woofer that shakes the room plenty ;) If your ever anywhere near pop in have a demo :) |

Cloverfield. I thought it was V. good if a bit vomit inducing with some of the fast moving camera stuff. 8.5 out of 10 for me.
Sadly the missus hated it and as I result I'm getting dragged to some god-awful chipmunk movie to make it up to her. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
AVP:2 very good film, nobody was safe, I know a pregnant woman who will not have her bay in hospital now. (I wonder why :) )
Cloverfield another very good film, excep I left the cinema and threw up. |

I watched Cloverfield at the flix yesterday and thought the way it was shot was excellent. It takes time for the action to start, but it was well worth the wait.
it might help if you sit as far back from the screen as you can due to the shaky camera. i'd give it 7/10 |

50 ft (at least) screen. Comfortable reclining seats, and a THX designed , 60 JBL speaker (I think) sound system.. :D As for the film, thought it was excellent, even the fact it was shot on a hand held camera (a techniques that I think is slightly irritating, and overused by Hollywod) added to the tension. The only thing that detracted from the experience was the soundtrack. While it was extremely impressive, but the video would have been shot on either a handheld DV camcorder, or a Handheld HDV camcorder. None of these (to my knowledge) capture a full surround soundtrack, so, to complete the image, it should really have been stereo. |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Been to see Jumper earlier. I'd say it's worth a 6 out of 10.
Everything in it is good (especially Rachel Bilson :naughty:) apart from a couple of things. 1 minor, 1 not so minor. The minor point is the fights get confusing, with the characters "jumping" all over the screen (and in one fight, apparently randomly to/from any one of three continents). This makes the fights a little difficult (but certainly not impossible) to follow. The more major point, for me, is Haydn Christenson. I thought he had pretty much proved he can't act in Star Wars.. The director of this apparently thought he could. With a better lead actor, I'd be tempted to say this film was worth an 8. |

i love movies but never got round to watching rambo.
so today i watched 1-2-3. and i have to say in number 3 when he heals his wound using the gun powder then sets his insides on fire to stop the bleading was awesome :) roll on rambo 4 :) |

Sebastiane - 1/10
It's basically really bad 70s gay soft-core porn. One or two  moments though - nearly dropped my cuppa when an erection bobbed into view. Not entirely certain that you can show such things on television, even if it is a Channel 4 offshoot. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
National Treasure: Book of Secrets 9/10
Full of action, and humour. Really good plot and great charactor interaction. Even better than the first. Though Nicolas Cage is looking guant.. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Funnily enough, National Treasure: We'd really like a franchise (ie the first one).
Missed this at the flix and dvd release - borrowed off a mate. What a load of sub-Indy kak. 2D characters, silly plot. Roll on Crystal Skull. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Rambo gore, I mean four. ;) It's totally awsome! Blood n guts, beheadings and rape, exploding bodies, kids being killed infront of your very eyes!! Torture and disembowelment! Lovely lovely lovely.
The movie is just 93 minutes long but has 236 killings. That is 2.59 every 60 seconds. :) THIS IS WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT!!!!!!!!! :erm::sniper: |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Cloverfield - finally!
7/10 - the effects are awesome especially from when they're in the helicopter looking down at the creature. What spoiled it for me was that there was no attempt at an explanation for what is was, where it came from or why it was doing what it did, which kind of made the whole film pointless. |

re: Rate the last movie you saw
Recently watched [Rec] a 2007 Spanish (English subbed) Horror movie, for those who havn't seen it i'd def give it a shot :D Hmm as for rating i would say 8/10 :tu: which is pretty damned good in my standards, i've watched so many horror flicks now most just seem a bore :dozey: but really check that out sometime!
I tend to have a preference to foreign movies lately, seem to have a slightly different approach from your typical western movies, a great foreign movie i'd def recommend other than [Rec] is Nochnoy dozor (Russin Title) or Night Watch for us English speakin' folk :D it's a 2004 Action / Fantasy / Horror / Thriller i really enjoyed :) it's English subbed too and well worth a watch! :D ~ Kitty x |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Then you wanna catch Dnevnoy dozor or Daywatch which is the second in a trilogy and eventually there will be Twilight watch thats not been made yet :)

Hopefully being filmed in English "Filmed in English, since it is co-financed by Fox, whereas the first two parts of the trilogy were made in Russian." won't take anything away and still have most of the same actors / style as the previous two :D Woohoo! :hyper: ~ Kitty x |

Rise of the foot soldier.
Gritty British gangster movie, superb acting, makes Essex boys look like a walk in the park. Although they are both based around the same true story of the triple murder in Dec 1995 this is by far more factual. What makes this a bigger and better film is the portrayal of the main characters and the intro\bio of Carlton Leech, how he rose through the ranks from ICF to become a not so stupid villain\hard case. Its rough, its tough and with a little bit of artistic license its real. Gets a big fist in yer face 10\10 from me. |
re: Rate the last movie you saw
Subway (1985, France)
Directed by: Luc Besson Principle Actors: Christopher Lambert, Isabelle Adjani (pretty or what!) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090095/ We went to see this at the cinema when it first came out and loved it. I recently bought it on DVD and didn't! It could be something to do with the dubbing - first time we saw it in French with subtitles. Something has definately been lost in translation (Iroquoi - Quoi?) and the occasional American accent grates somewhat. There's some great gags - like the roller skates with headlights - but the whole thing just seems interminably slow. I'd remembered the outline of the plot - which is pretty simple - but, appart from the odd one or two, most of the scenes had been erased from my mind. Unlike... Diva (1981, France) Director: Jean-Jaques Beineix http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082269/ We only saw it once some 27 years ago but I could remember so much detail. This is a beautiful film with lots of plot and fantastic photography. I wish we had a projector so I could see it on a large screen again. It's in French with subtitles so if, like me, your French is pretty rusty then you have to be quick at reading. But then this film is more about image than dialogue. A bit dated now maybe but definately recommended. |

Robert Zemeckis' all-CGI action epic about the mighty Cockney monster-slayer, Beowulf.
Apparently not too accurate an adaptation of the poem, but seeing as I still have never read it I didn't really care... "I'VE COME TO KILL YORE MONSTA!" [Shine ya boots, Grendel? Apples & Pears?] Despite the apparently unfaithful adaptation, & the strange mixture of accents, this is a really good movie IMO. Great effects, great action, some interesting characters. Oh, & Grendel's Mum ;) ... Definitely recommended. |

Jumper
Could have been a much better film if we had been given a little more insight into how "jumpers" get their gift and the fight scene's were a little less eclectic. Hayden Christensen seemed to have taken a couple of acting lessons since RotS but you would never have guessed it. Samual L Jackson was his usual credible self and gave the film a lift. 5\10 Cloverfield Finally got round to watching it without falling asleep. What else is there to say about this film, made for $25mil, grossed $40mil odd in its opening weekend, lots of hype, good FX and Cloverfield2 looks as though it could and should be on the cards. 7.5\10 |
