4 channels have been added to worldbox app

CTC
BFM TV
TGCOM24
Ukraine Today

CTC is in the Cyrillic alphabet so is actually STS. Interesting that Worldbox has labelled it as CTC on the app. There's some very odd comedy on that channel.. Russian humour, I guess.

If you google the following broadcast has an interesting piece.

Virgin joins battle for US content

Something I said on here they should have been doing long since , use On Demand to it's full potential.

It has always amazed me that Dave hasn't made its way to freesat, it has been on freeview (in one form or another) almost since launch.

It's widely belived that Dave will go FTA when rights and Sky contractual agreement issues are resolved.

The +1 variant for Yesterday (the only one of them to have a timeshift service) is expected to join Freesat too.

Unverified rumours abound that Quest and Netflix will also join, as well as the certainly that Talking Pictures starts next month.

With PBS recently joining, Freetime (backwards EPG) and free PVR recording, Freesat is beginning to look very tempting.

Or perhaps UKTV only owns the UK programme rights for some of the content on Dave and the Irish TV networks own the rights for Ireland. Dave has a separate feed for Ireland on Sky.

There's been rumours about that since the dawn of time, well, since the closure of Top Up TV at least.

Again, probably due to rights issues, the FTA rights to some of the content being held by other networks.

Yup Talking Pictures can currently be picked up in non Freesat mode' they will be joining the Freesat EPG in early 2016.

Where have you heard that Gold may be going FTA? Even though it's a shadow of it's former self, I think it would be a great addition to Freesat :)

Aye, until Sky started scrambling all the channels that they could manage to persuade, including QVC!

MTV used to be free too.

do we have any rumours of anything potentially good coming? even if its only a 20% chance of it occurring i need anything to kid myself that the price hikes may be worth it for lovely goodies.

Was told at the weekend that Arte are currently in negotiations with VM to join the platform. No idea if this will be linear or Worldbox.

They have two channels on satellite, with mainly German and French soundtracks, but an English version is available online.

I imagine that the online English version is what we will end up with on Worldbox- my conjecture only, I wasn't told this last part.

Blimey, not even top 30 this year on top posters. Must rectify that. Never mind, while I'm recovering from surgery I'll spam this thread all day every day.

I imagine that the online English version is what we will end up with on Worldbox- my conjecture only, I wasn't told this last part.

Actually, some of you may have seen this channel before from the days of analogue satellite (it was on Astra 1D on transponder 49).

It was a French channel that often had English and German soundtracks & subtitles (and still does).

Hi, does anyone have a full list of what channels that are on Sky but not on VM. I have a friend who is thinking of switching but wants to know what channels they will be missing. I know of the big ones like Atlantic, AMC, and ITV Encore. If someone can post a full list that would help a lot, thanks in advance.

Do you guys think VM will do anymore HD swapping in 2016? To bring those channels into more prominence, or maybe if the Tivo Bolt arrives, could we see any 4K channels?

There will no doubt be a 4K fee lol

I totally agree although two smaller and price-driven virtual networks - Asda and TalkTalk do not have 4G offerings yet. I'm sure Sky will offer 4G when it launches its mobile service next year so VM must offer 4G soon.

It's not impossible that VM and Liberty Global will combine or establish an alliance in Europe. The FT today has this evening published an article which effectively says don't rule it out under the headline "Vodafone leaves door ajar to striking a deal with Liberty Global"
