MUTV ownership changes

Manchester United have acquired the one-third minority equity stake in Manchester United Television (MUTV) from BskyB (Sky). MUTV is now a wholly-owned group subsidiary.

As part of the club's long-term digital media plans, Manchester United has made the strategic acquisition of Sky’s stake in MUTV in order to own 100 per cent of the content production and distribution capabilities of this business.

http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Fe...D-7803F413C732

MUTV is set to move to Sky Channel 418 on February 4th.

Thanks for the info. Seemed silly that you had to sign up for a sports package to watch a documentary in 3D. Wonder how difficult it is to limit customers by package and time on a single channel.

Sky Go for iOS has been updated to support the iPhone 5's larger screen size, along with support for the new Sky Go Extra service.

Sky Go Extra costs £5 per month, which gives you a device limit of 4 instead of 2 and allows you to download programmes for offline viewing.

Indeed , I'm sure many families out there will love the extra flexibility the increased device limit now offers them along with the ability to take shows/movies with them on the move without the need for an Internet connection. The coming months should be interesting for Sky customers , I'm sure there'll be some more useful stuff on the way. ;)

Just for people that are unaware Sky Go Extra has a device limit of 4 but only 2 devices can stream at any one time

apart from the red button, it is same as before (not sure about red button highlights, never used it)

So not sure it is taking on BBC. I normally like BBC as I can watch edited highlights same night (or first thing in morning if I record)

Not seeing me change anything

Welcome aboard! Sadly Breaking Bad, as far as I am aware, is not currently on any TV channel in the UK.

Only the first two seasons of Breaking Bad have ever been screened on UK television, with the third, fourth and now fifth seasons being made exclusively available via Netflix.

Hello, anyone? :D

2 days ago I added Dawn Of The Dead to my never miss list. This morning it turns up Showcase. Seems a strange film to be added to Showcase seing it's been available on SKY for a couple of weeks. Just wondered if it being added to Showcase was linked to my never miss request, or if this is just a massive coincidence.

I'm pretty sure £9.99 is cheaper than £22.00. Many people don't want too pay a regular subscription every month and some probably cant afford it , this now enables them access to that one key match they want to see while allowing them to watch the rest of the live sport that day , Sky were never going to set the price too low and run the risk of losing monthly Sky Sports subscribers.

I agree.

The article suggests £9.99 gives unlimited access to all of Sky’s sports coverage for 24 hours. I think SKY might start putting on "blockbuster" sports days / weekends.

For example there is a 24 hour period coming up in a few months that would be tempting to sports fans without SKY Sports.

25th May - Champions League Final
25th May - Carl Froch Vs. Mikkel Kessler
26th May - Scottish Cup Final
26th May - Monaco Grand Prix

If your are a fan of football, boxing and F1 you laughing.

It opens up premium sports to a much wider audience. It's given people a choice they didn't have before.

If you have a Sky+HD box try the following (wait until any recordings complete)

On your remote, press Services,0,0,1,Select. (Press each key without pausing)

You should see (Setup) highlighted in yellow now , use the left arrow twice to highlight Sky+ Rebuild in yellow , press select twice and let the procedure complete.

Excellent, worked great.
Any idea's why this happens or is it just a quirk?

Not sure mate however a planner rebuild generally sorts many issues out.

Updated Sky+ app (Planner management , remote control functionality) now available for Android on Google Play , I've tested on a Nexus 7 and all works well.

Sky Sports in the UK is set to broadcast parts of the final pre-season test in 3D in what it claims will be a "world first".

Would be better if they were starting in 4K or 8K so library footage doesn't look like pants in a few years.

4K is ok if you have a 4K TV 80" or larger :D

Can't see many people in the UK adopting those screen sizes anytime soon.

Guardian: Planet Rock bought by Bauer Media.

Quote:

Bauer Media, a German-owned private company which is also homes to magazines including Grazia and Heat, confirmed the deal on Wednesday as predicted by MediaGuardian last month.

The loss-making digital radio station was put up for sale by its owner, millionaire entrepreneur and rock music fan Malcolm Bluemel last year.

Bauer bought the station for an undisclosed sum but the company is thought to have paid between £1m and £2m, with the sum likely to be closer to the former than the latter.

Let's see what price they come out with.

Remember for £10.00 per month Setanta Sports, depending on your TV provider, offered Setanta Sports 1, Setanta Sports 2, Setanta Sports News, Setanta Golf, Arsenal TV, Celtic TV, LFC TV and Rangers TV. Setanta peaked at 1.5 million subscribers which included Virgin Media XL customers.

BT Sports are only offering 2 dedicated channels. There is no way they can match the content provided by Setanta Sports. They won't be able to match the content offered by ESPN / ESPN America either.

Any more than £10.00 per month and BT Sports will simply price themselves out of the market. Setanta went down the pan, ESPN are leaving the UK. BT Sports won't last long if they try to rip people off.

Something will have to go in our. household because wont be able to afford sky sports, espn AND bt sports. I wonder what chances there are of sky bundling all 3 together at a affordable price?

I think £10 a month for 2 channels will be expensive so lets hope its lets than that. I reckon ill have to get rid of ESPN to be able to afford BT Sports which is a shame

Personally l think it will be around £12 for subscribers on Sky and lets hope for Virgin it replaces the outgoing ESPN on the XL package.

I'll put my house on it only being available in a pack on BT Vision why on earth would they give their major competitors a massive advantage , I believe it will be sold on a monthly subscription basis on both Sky and VM probably around the £10 mark however until we see a press release its pure speculation.

Yeah, BT will replace their 'free' ESPN with BT Sports, hopefully we can get the same on cable.

Hmmm didnt Espn get setantas rights which cost setantas £159 million. BT just paid 3 quarters of a billion £'s, so I doubt they will give them away for anywhere near what VM were paying ESPN.

VM will either drop the price of XL or increase it if they want to include BT sports.
