2-0 to Man City at half time, looks like they'll be the only team with an unbeated record this season at the end of this game.... Mind you I always feel nervous about saying something like that about MCFC :D

Incredible story from Germany where the Bundesliga match between Cologne and Mainz was called off 40 minutes before kick-off after the referee tried to commit suicide. Babak Rafati was found in his hotel room less than two hours before the scheduled start time. The 41 year-old is in Hospital his condition is unknown.

I think with a bit of premier league experience Swansea could be a decent mid-table side. The problem is we seem to be a bit nervous and in awe of the big sides. As long as we can adapt to the Premier style we could be here for a long time.

Yes l know the title is between the two Manchester clubs but a champions league spot would be a lovely compensation at the end of the season and as for Glenn Johnson l always find that he is better going forward then going backwards.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2...-deal-sky-espn

Quote:

The Scottish Premier League has agreed a television deal with Sky Sports and ESPN which will run until the end of the 2016-17 season. They will pay a combined £80m to continue to screen 30 live SPL matches each per season. The figure represents an increase of £3m a year on the existing broadcast agreement due to end in 2014.
Quote:

The SPL had considered not extending its TV contracts beyond this season, which it was entitled to do due to a break clause in the existing deal which runs to the summer of 2014. Had it done so, the SPL could have established its own, standalone pay-per-view channel.
Quote:

"Against the global economic context, where rights values are down, Sky and ESPN were willing to bid more for a product they were already contracted to for another two and a half years."

Arthurgray50@blu 22-11-2011 11:51

Re: Football Season 2011/12

The Sky and ESPN deal is fine, BUT as long as it is not the Old Firm games all the time.

There are more clubs in the SPL than Celtic and Rangers, and l know that these games are big draws, but other clubs need the finance, and Celtic and Rangers have more money than the rest of the SPL put together.

Maybe now, Sky and ESPN can go further by showing Blue Square games, and yes l know that these games are shown by Premier Sports, but you cannot get them on Virgin Media can you.

---------- Post added at 11:51 ---------- Previous post was at 11:30 ----------

Read that Harry Redknapp firmly believes that Tottenham can win the Premier League THIS season.

Being a big Spurs fan, l think his heart problem needs looking at again, there is no way they can over take United or City with the squad that Spurs have.

What Spurs need is Constant goals from out top strikers and we are not getting that, I will be happy to settle with Champions League, maybe next season for top slot, we are doing great this season, but don't forget, we can easily lose Harry to the England job - but will Harry's wife allow him to take all that crap from the FA.

Man City now need to better Napoli's result in the last game to qualify. Might be a hard ask when you consider City are playing Munich. Although Napoli's trip to Villarreal isn't easy despite the spanish side not gaining a single point thus far. If Napoli do win then City are out no matter what.

United lose against Basel away then they are out too. Less likely to happen however. A draw or win puts them into the last 16 but if Benfica get a better or match United's result then United will be second - quite likely as Benfica have the easiest game in the group to come.

Not only that but Arsenal have already won their group. All other English sides have both a fight to stay in and in the case of United and Chelsea they need results elsewhere to go their way if they want to win the group.

I am delighted that Chelsea lost tonight, and now they have to beat Valencia to go through.

This proves that money cannot buy success, Throughout the game Chelsea kept on going on about booking players for fouls, it was getting stupid.

And Drogba, proving what a Birk he is, the guy was injured, but wanted to carry on playing, l am a believer that a players life can be ruined by injury, and yet Drogba kept on playing when he could have come off.

Wilsheres out until Feb, so we're told anyway. he seems to be recovering at a fast rate so who knows. I just hope we don't hear Wenger saying we wont sign anyone.. Wilshere will be like a new signing come January. having said that Arsenals board were grilled at the AGM, money will have to be spent in the right areas, this covering of the cracks with desperate signings and decent form doesn't cure the main problem. i know its crazy saying that considering what other clubs are enduring but its because we've got a great set up and manager whats the point wasting it. anywho Arshavins near enough gone which will raise funds. out of Hazard and Gotze I'd take Gotze although we might get both  wishful thinking considering Joel Campbell who was brought in during the summer then loaned out to French side Lorient isn't doing bad.

l think Arsenal fans have to remember that Wilshire is still a very young player and l think it is important that Wenger does not rush him back or he will be at risk of another injury and then there is medium term the chance of burning a young player out as well.

AC Milan have opened talks with Carlos Tevez's advisors about a January move for the Manchester City striker, BBC Sport understands.

City will only sell Tevez if the price suits them but they are keen to offload the striker, with manager Roberto Mancini last week reiterating his view that the striker is unlikely to play for the club again.

An internal club investigation concluded that Tevez was guilty of five breaches of his contract and the player was fined four weeks' wages, reduced to two following intervention from the Professional Footballers' Association.

Absolutely stunning goal. You can watch it 10 times and still not be sure how he does it. Bergkamp would've been proud. Of course, Bergkamp would have chipped it rather than send a outside right foot curler into the near corner :)

It was soo poor, we haven't got a spark but with this bunch theres ability to get the job done. yesterday was such a pathetic performance by a few of heads on the pitch. arguments of why Wenger switched are pointless, theres enough quality on the pitch to overcome Fulham.

Sir Alex of Man Utd always criticising officials, and Man City with the horrible Balotelli, when Balotelli was sent off, he was just a cry baby who should have known better.

Well at the last count there are 6 teams challenging for 3 champions league spots as Man City are strong favourites for the title so lets forget them so then you have Man Utd, Chelsea, Newcastle, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs in there so there is a long way to go in that fight.

I like Frimpong, he's going to be quality, if he can ever get a run in the team of course and Chamberlain looks good to, like Walcott but with end product and speaking of Theo, Chamberlain's arrival seems to have bucked his game up a bit, lets hope that form continues.

O'Neill is overrated. Spent a lot of money at Villa and never moved up that many places and his teams are always pretty dull to watch.l

Selling players is ultimately why he left but he had several years of decent backing whilst finishing around 6th each time.

Bad news for Liverpool fans.:(:(

Liverpool's worst fears have been confirmed after midfielder Lucas Leiva was ruled out for the season as a result of the knee injury he suffered against Chelsea.

A scan has since revealed anterior cruciate ligament damage in Lucas' left knee and he is set to undergo surgery, which will rule him out for the remainer of the current campaign.

Yes when he first came to Liverpool he was given the tag of the worse midfielder Liverpool ever had and now he is injured they are going to miss him big time.

One of the key aspects of the agreement is said to be O'Neill's agreement to the budgetary constraints at the Stadium of Light.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

Gary Speed's Newcastle tribute that was due tomorrow against Chelsea has been pushed back to December 17th when Swansea visit SJP as Gary Speed's wife wishes to be present but is tied up visiting Elland Rd tomorrow.

Quote:

We have today received a request from Louise Speed to postpone the club's planned tribute to her husband Gary, in order that she can join us at the stadium when our tribute takes place.

Louise has been very touched by the plans and expressed a desire to be present.

As Louise will be at Elland Road tomorrow, on her request we have rescheduled our tribute and it will now take place at our next home game, against Swansea on December 17.

A minute's applause for Gary will still take place before kick-off
Still expected for the swansea game is another Minute's applause, A hymn and
Newcastle scarves held above the head along with Black and White cards to make out number 11

R.I.P Gary

Jonjo Shelvey has been recalled from Blackpool and Stevie G's cast came off the other day so I don't think any rash moves need to be made in the transfer window.
