Thanks spider, it has been recording the HD channels since making that tweak.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

l have set up a Wish list search for films under the genre of action adventure and on the TV EPG there are plenty of films listed under that but on the Wish List it shows nothing.

Am l typing in the right wordings for this wish list search? as l have it under Films for the main keyword and then in category l have set it up as Movies and Action Adventure.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

Try removing Films from the main keyword field and see if that makes a difference. I know there was a guide in this thread for recording movies but I can't remember what page it was on, I'll search in a second.

Hmm, searched but can't find it.

Yes l have just removed Films as the main keyword and now there is a plethora of films to look through.:Yikes:

Thanks Mark for that tip.

I've got the opposite issue and often wish it would record things in SD, not HD as it takes up too much space.

e.g. I've got a Wishlist to record films with Peter Sellers, but I don't really want 1950's & 60's films in HD, little point. It tends opt for the HD version of the channel if there's a choice.

I know theres a setting somewhere on the tivo but for the life of me I cant remember where it is. I had the box swapped last week after a hardrive failure, so I`ve got a new box.
If we are watching an oldish film on some channels, channel 5 HD is one of them but there are others, the picture is a square box but if I change to SD it goes to full screen. Could someone remind me how to change the setting please so its full screen in HD

Go to Help&Settings -> Settings -> Video Output -> Aspect Correction Mode. I think you either want it set to Full or Zoom.

If you select a programme from your wish list, you will see on the right hand side of your screen a short list of options. The first is 'Get only in HD'. If you 'OK' that, your wish list preference will be recorded on SD.

To do this, select 'modify recording options' from the list at the bottom of the screen and just change the relevant option.

I have been with Cable TV and Telephone service since March 2005, then it was Yorkshire Cable. Since then culminating in my current provider Virgin Media, the price seems to increase steadily by about £3.00 each year, from my limited knowledge of other customers are paying, it seems the more persuasive we are the less we pay. Of course it depends on what services the customers receive, but what about us comparing our charges just to see how they vary from one to another. Since changing to Tivo my past monthly payments have averaged £70.00. An email on 11/11/15 reads "From February next year, your bill will be going up by £3.99 a month" making mine £73.99. Come on then WHATS YOURS?

Looking after the long term paying customers does not seem to be in any of the service provides remit. Why do you have to keep phoning up to hagle a better price or deal! Though I am told that we pay less than other countries.

More suggestions have started recording in the last few weeks. Is this down to a recent update?

Yes, the settings were changed about a month ago.

Yes, that was a positive move. You are more likely to find a programme you like by going through the suggestions than by channel hopping.
