I know it an long but will Virgin Media have an ''freeview'' for Colours when it launch on Friday?

Nothing surprises me about VM, about 10 years behind in everything they do.

Lets say this, when Richard Branson took part in the big sell for VM, l thought VM was there to take on Sky for everything, that seems to have bit the dust.

VM have got to get channels for there customers, ie HD channels out there, and there must be loads that are NOT on the Sky platform.

VM could be proactive and help broadcasters launch new channels but it appears they are not in the business of operating channels in the long term, personally I actually think that is wise.

But I don't think it much matters if there were 100 HD channels around, it's whether VM can afford to carry them and their inflexible pricing structure seems to suggest they cant.

Lets be dead clear, whilst they have 29 HD channels in total 12 attract a fee and 5 are non subscription channels. They only carry 12 inclusive pay channels in XL which is great but I just don't see that massively increasing anytime soon if they stick to their pricing model.

We'll see.

They made a pledge to offer more HD inclusive earlier this year, so I can't see them stopping the XL inclusive HD. The price rise will help fund them too .
