It came, it settled (for a short while), it went.

I guess I wait for the next lot now.

Re: Snow !

Snowed overnight here, about 3cm laying in Andover this morning, just walked the dog and the usual stupid idiots are driving around in their igloos because they can't be bothered to clear their car windows properly!

Now with no more snow forecast will I bother to clear the snow off the drive, or is the sun going to do it for me??? :-)

It's amazing how many people think that the conditions that prevailed on the day they passed their test, and the characteristics of the car they were driving at the time, are the only thing they ever need to know.

(When we had a Zafira I was forever pointing out to Mrs T that a large, diesel-engined car with a six speed gearbox could not be expected to perform the same way as a five-speed, petrol Nissan Micra, and should not be driven as if it was one).

My Mum and Dad both said it takes time to get used to how to drive a new car. Even if it's the same make and model as your old car. They said that every car has it's own idiosyncrasies.

Not sure I'd go that far, but even I can see that different models of cars behave differently..

We see some right clowns along the road here, which is a long, remote, rural access route that only gets gritted if icy weather lasts more than a couple of days. The poor farmers are forever replacing stretches of fence where cars have just slid off the road.
Same where I live, although I live in a suburb of London. We have two particularly dangerous roads. One zig zags through a golf course, and while it's only a few hundred metres long, it has two almost 90 degree bends in it. While it is quite well let, has all the appropriate warning signs and markings, people still insist on speeding down it, and we regularly see cars that have lost control and veered off into the golf course.

The other road is again only short, but has quite a long, very shallow curve to it. Because the road is quite wide, and visibility is usually very good, people seem to forget (or not notice) the curve. So, they speed. Then get to a point where they suddenly realise they are about to go into the railing around my local leisure centre and by that point, it's too late. They slam on the brakes, which inevitably leads to a skid, and they are a couple of metres away from the pavement, heading for it and still doing at least 30.

More random snowfall here again, lasted for at least 30 minutes !

Re: Snow !

More arctic weather and snow possibly on the way, nice.

Mind you it's blimmin cold up here. I turfed a big lump of ice out of the bird bath a couple of days ago and it's still lying there on the ground frozen solid.

Re: Snow !

So far the predictions of Artic weather have fallen flat, at least around here anyway.

12 hours predicted starting at midnight in Stevenage. On the one hand don't want it but on the other hand would like it so I don't have to go to the Jobcentre.

A snow flurry near Wokingham, as the temperature is 1.5 degrees and is for cast to rise to 4 degrees it will not lay.
