With the proliferation of cheap "smart" add-ons I can't see Tivo's apps gaining any significant traction even if they bring out a new souped up box. TiVo apps are almost always going to be less well maintained and updated and for anyone savvy enough to be interested in over-the-top services like Netflix £30 is a no-brainer to be part of a large, well looked after pool of users.

Back in the day, the separate 10Mb/s modem seemed like a big benefit. Now with 200Mb/s broadband it's irrelevant.

Is the Iplayer on TiVo now behind many other platforms ? I had a play around with it at a family members house but couldn't see the ability to watch the channels streamed live or the ability to live restart a show already part way through.

This functionality is already available on YouView , Now TV box and Roku plus other devices.
