My TV blinds all IR receivers for up to a minute after it comes on. Fortunately things calm down after that!

TiVo apps are almost always going to be less well maintained and updated and for anyone savvy enough to be interested in over-the-top services like Netflix £30 is a no-brainer to be part of a large, well looked after pool of users.

Back in the day, the separate 10Mb/s modem seemed like a big benefit. Now with 200Mb/s broadband it's irrelevant.

Completely agree with you there. I never use TiVo apps now too.

When TiVo was introduced not too many people would have had smart TVs so the apps were a good idea. Smart TVs or smart dongles/boxes are so common/cheap now and perform so much better than the TiVo apps

It's preparatory work for future network capacity upgrades. Nothing that would cause your TiVo to be slow now.[/QUOTE]

In that case it shows how poor Tivo/Virgin are My Tivo is very slow So much so that I got a smart TV & now use that more that Tivo perhaps it time to move to Now TV & blow Virgins old antiquated service out all together.:(

Only app I use on TiVo is Spotify. Never had trouble with it.

Is the Iplayer on TiVo now behind many other platforms ? I had a play around with it at a family members house but couldn't see the ability to watch the channels streamed live or the ability to live restart a show already part way through.

This functionality is already available on YouView , Now TV box and Roku plus other devices.

iPlayer on TiVo has been updated today to include this.

Good news for TIVO users , I have it on my Youview but last time I looked I still didn't have it on Samsung TV.

Been hearing reports that TiVo has started to record 'suggestions' as a priority over 'planned recordings'. To try and achieve this, it has started to use all three tuners- a message appears if one is watching live TV to say that it is about to change channel when it needs the third tuner for a 'suggestion'.

One user has stated that the TiVo used to suggest about a dozen per week, but now it's suggesting a dozen or so every 48 hours.

Has anybody here had any problems like this?

Maybe it's a software fault; has there been a recent update?

I was getting random suggestion a few months ago. I have now turned of suggestions as I was spending time thumbs downing all the suggestions.

Suggestions won't take priority over scheduled recordings, but can take over live TV if you haven't pressed a remote control button for a while.

The rate of recording suggestions has been increased recently.

I had noticed an increase in suggestions, however they do seem to have got better as I am now watching a greater number of them.

Setup a new wishlist just now for Simpsons, as I can never remember which ones I have seen and not seen. It's got 24 set to record, but is missing 3 episodes due to air tonight. I have options set to record new and re-runs, keep all episodes, HD only and start 2 mins early finish 3 mins later. Nothing being recorded tonight, so at a loss as to why it is not recording the 3 episodes on SKY1 HD.

Thanks for suggestions.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

Those episodes aren't marked as HD. According to Wikipedia, Series 20 was the first made in HD.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

Oh. I just assumed saying record in HD meant it would just record those shows broadcast on the HD channels. So I would be better off cancelling the wishlist later and then doing 2 separate series links, one for SKY 1 and one for Channel 4 then?

spiderplant 29-11-2015 21:28

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

Just remove the "HD only" restriction. It should still record HD whenever available.

MalteseFalcon 29-11-2015 22:11

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

Thanks, I'll try that tonight. Hopefully it will record HD versions where available and not the AD channel for Channel 4.
