This was Netanyahu's son, but there have been others in the Israeli governing party who've said similar things over the last year.

Quite interested in who in Israel thinks backing Argentina's claims to the Falklands helps them in any way at all. It's obviously designed to upset pretty much everyone in Britain, but that's including the section of Britain support the current Israeli government. Trump is also on this bandwagon now.

I guess it helps them in Argentina, but they have less economic and political soft power.

Israel is closing our consulate in East Jerusalem in retaliation for the sanctions.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cw33xd6vegnno

Expect a lot of their diplomats to be kicked out of London in return in the coming hours.

No they're not, it's been there for more than 100 years longer than Israel has and it's British property, they can expel some staff, they can make as many bold claims as they like and I'll make one too, it'll be opening as usual today and it will tomorrow and the day after

Israel downgraded Britain’s 188-year-old consulate in East Jerusalem on Thursday, expelling 20 diplomats and scaling back services to Palestinians, but stopped short of closing the facility entirely after last-minute negotiations.

Israel had ordered the consulate closed last month in retaliation for British sanctions on Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, which most countries consider illegal under international law. The consulate handles Britain’s relations with Palestinians in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza, separate from its embassy in Tel Aviv.

The consulate will become a “U.K. mission,” lacking a consulate general but still operating with a smaller staff.

“The UK Mission, Jerusalem is independent, operational, and will continue to deliver vital services and our work with the Palestinian people,” Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said in a statement.

The compromise heads off what could have been a major escalation in the diplomatic row, amid reports that the U.K. could in turn expel Israeli officials from London.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar blamed the souring relations on Britain’s Labour government, which has condemned Israeli military actions in Gaza, placed sanctions on settlers and recognized a Palestinian state.

Miliband said last month that expanding settlements in the West Bank amounted to “ethnic cleansing.”

“We did not want to reach this point, but the actions of the Labour government brought us here,” Saar said on X.

Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israel to support Argentina over the Falklands, The Telegraph can reveal.

The Israeli prime minister told diplomats to change his country’s official position and join Buenos Aires in calling for direct talks over the future of the islands.

Mr Netanyahu, who has a close bond with Javier Milei, the Argentine president, altered his position following last month’s decision by Ed Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, to impose economic sanctions on West Bank settlements.
Well he might lose the next election next week and this be for nothing, but still. This is probably Argentina's biggest ally on this issue now.

A few 'leaders' just lately not content with their own 'land grab' plans, now seem to be encouraging others to do the same.

No worries though because we have 2 tins of beans and a pack of candles stored ;)

Key election tomorrow in Israel.

Netanyahu has been in power for 1 in every 4 days that Israel has existed as a state. If there's anyone who knows about winning elections, he's that person! However, Trump has endorsed Netanyahu and Trump's last endorsement in Brazil just lost the election there.

I knew those two were Putin's mates. Should have guessed Trump endorsed them as well!

Interesting times as exit polls show opposition leader Eisenkot's bloc has a marginal lead per Sky. However, the FT says their is no overall winner at the moment.

Israeli president taps ex-general Eisenkot, opponent of Netanyahu, to form government

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has tasked former military chief Gadi Eisenkot — the main political opponent of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — to form the country’s next government.

Eisenkot will have 28 days to build a coalition, with a possible two-week extension. His Yashar party won 21 Knesset seats, and his opposition bloc 48 in all, short of the 61 needed for a majority.

One option is to bring in one or both of the Arab parties, which together won a record 19 seats — eight for Raam and 11 for the Joint List. Eisenkot could also try to form a minority government with their outside support.

However, Avigdor Liberman, a member of Eisenkot’s bloc who is the hawkish leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, has fiercely opposed such a move. Eisenkot, a centrist on the Israeli political spectrum, previously has also expressed reservations about such a coalition.

Since the election on Oct. 27, the two Arab parties have indicated willingness to propel Eisenkot to the prime minister’s office.
