Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)
That would be because of distance and funky routing.
Being in Scotland there's only so low you can go: C:\Users\Administrator>ping bbc.co.uk Pinging bbc.co.uk [212.58.241.131] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 212.58.241.131: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=242 Reply from 212.58.241.131: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=242 Reply from 212.58.241.131: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=242 Reply from 212.58.241.131: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=242 Ping statistics for 212.58.241.131: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 11ms, Maximum = 11ms, Average = 11ms ---------- Post added at 17:22 ---------- Previous post was at 17:18 ---------- Ooh, looks like VM's peering at LINX is overloaded again. Private peering doesn't appear affected. Enjoying your bumps tonight people? Spoiler:

my connection appears to be buffering over 6 seconds. If I type something in ssh it appears 6 seconds later.

Looks like a very sudden increase in latency/congestion around 12pm though, much faster than you'd expect from "natural" congestion. Same goes for jempalmer. I wonder what it is... |
Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)
I agree the sudden onset was unusual as well as the intensity, with past weeks I have had slow buildups of poor download performance but generally latency/jitter remained ok.
midday is when I started watching iplayer F1 stream, which made me suspect some new traffic management trial, but remember also it could still be easily congestion knowing how VM works a single user can have a huge impact and now VM are rolling out 133/12 services. |
Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)
This is getting beyond a joke, my TBB graph is taking around 3 or 4 seconds to resolve.
