Just light flakes now with the sun peeking through occasionally.

Apparently heero there were tailbacks of up to 15 miles that were reported on the A23 between Crawley and Brighton, with some motorists stuck for up to eight hours.

Not too much here overnight but seriously cold.

I must say I feel very sorry for those who got stuck out in their vehicles for hours and in some cases all night. Having said that, I heard Cheryl Baker on TV this morning banging on about how she and her hubby had been stuck in their car all night. I did feel sorry for them until I heard that they'd headed off into the night to collect their daughter who'd got stuck on a very icy hill, along with many others, somewhere miles away in Brighton. Don't get me wrong, I can fully understand their parental urge to assist their daughter but did they think to take some precautions in case they also got stuck somewhere like so many others? You know, extra warm clothing, blankets, food, hot drinks etc. etc. etc. Erm, that'd be a no... So they too went out and got stuck somewhere adding yet more misery and congestion to that which was already evident and thereby making the job of the emergency services even harder. Having got a bit peckish after hours going nowehere, they were apparently shocked to find that the only edible stuff available from the service station was bars of chocolate and bags of crisps? Quelle surprise...

Just found this concerning the incident:

Makes you wonder also whether they even checked the traffic news before they set out.

Heavy snow in north-western Europe is causing severe travel disruption, including the cancellation of hundreds of flights via Frankfurt and Paris.

The Eurostar high-speed train service between London and Paris has also been suspended.

So it's not only here is it.

Snow predicted but none so far apart from a miserable attempt this morning of a few 'drops', but windy and bitterly cold.

Such as 'I'm proper snow, actually, not like that lower class muck you get in Brighton. Think of me as the freezer section of Waitrose, not Asda'?

Big fat fluffy snowflakes falling here.

Re: Snow !

We had some last night, which melted slightly during the day. Now its started up again, with bigger flakes this time. So far they are just melting as they hit the ground, but as it gets colder I expect they will overpower that (assuming it carries on falling).

Heavy snow started here in Mansfield overnight Thursday. Had a few hours respite during the day on Friday with some heavy snow showers. Been up since 6am and it hasn't stopped. I would guess at around 6" so far and the council have not gritted anywhere that I can see
