SS Great Britain on a sea of lime jelly? :erm:

Not sure!
Quote:

A ship moored in Bristol has been "floated" in a sea of neon-green jelly as part of a cultural festival.

The ss Great Britain, which is now a visitor attraction, is one of 10 sites to be matched with artists as part of the Museums at Night season.

The ship's glass "sea" has been covered with 55,000 litres of jelly which will be lit from below after sunset.

A spokesman for the tourist attraction said the jellymongers' work would make a "stunning" piece of modern art.

The team's going to push the jelly around the boat which will take about six hours”

A team of 10 people started mixing the jelly in barrels and using industrial paint mixers early on Friday morning.

Words fail me..is it a Guinness book of records affair?

I thought 'happenings' were an obsolete form of art expression these days,so 60s.

It rather begs the question "Why?".

But unfortunately the artist will NEVER be entered for the Turner Prize..Because he will be deemed to have no artistic expression..and all art critics despise still life unless they are by old masters.

The art world is full of BS and hypocrisy..

I know which piece of work I would rather live with and unfortunately, despite the technical brilliance of Mr de Graaf's work it would not be one of his. Van Gogh's Sunflowers wins my vote over every one of the clinically perfect studies in the link.

I like them both jo..The sunflowers because Van Gogh was trying so desperately to show the sunlight, the textures as well as the passion he was feeling and thinking he was failing..all because no one else could see what he saw..and Graafs because it is modern day versions of what the 17th century Dutch still life painters were producing..with some simply stunning skills considering they didn't have modern day photography to aid them. though of course they did have access to the Camera Obscura.:)

I've never liked the sunflowers. to me it's just amateurish in the way the whole lot is done. including the wonky vase.
