Virgin Media Ireland are to open several new channels, including a news channel, a sports Channel and a children's Channel.

I wonder if they will be added to the UK service?

With Sky's launch date still to be confirmed, the gap between the two offerings will not be for a long time. Heck, not impossible for VM to launch its new Tivo before Sky IQ.

They're going to need something that combines the technology of the Bolt and the forthcoming updated Roamio to equal or beat Sky Q.

As Premier Sports wasn't sold recently, I wonder if VM will buy it and rebrand it as their new Sports Channel??

Not strictly true.

TV3 is now owned by Virgin Media Ireland, which in turn is part of Virgin Media UK.

LGI (VM's parent) also own part of ITV and other channel providers and producers

Only a guess mate but i think summer/autumn this year.

We can confirmed that the new box will launch later this year (we have been given an launch date of before The Summer Olympic Games).

We can not reveal any more info due to an DNP order by our Virgin Media UK Sources.

Was talking to a virgin media employee on the phone today and he was saying he has the new set top box to test, wouldn't say any more than that

The RTE ones are yes, due to rights issues mainly, but VM may buy the rights for the UK too (RTE couldn't afford to).

Had never heard of Ziggo Sport before, perhaps an English language version will be created to form the new Irish Sports channel??

I do think it's odd that the primary target of these new channels will be Southern Ireland.

Why not give the channels more chance of success (particularly as the genres are already covered in Ireland) by covering the UK and having an Irish version like some channels already do.
