Surprised VM are trying to retain customers who are paying £30, £40 a month for triple play.

Interesting.

Still no letter here at all.

I know I'll get one at one point, but my tariff was £52 + Line Rental with 12 months at £26 + Line rental for 100Mb/XL TV and Basic phone. If that can remain untouched I'll be more than happy.

Blimey Charlie. £4.50 increase? I think that's too much for me.

I signed up for the Big Kahuna bundle about 4 months ago.....Is there any way I can cut back on price? Perhaps to a smaller tv package? Or am I locked in?

The price increase means you can cancel your services, but the period in which you have to do that is from the date of the letter, ie. now, rather than the date of the increase in February, so get cracking!

I signed up only two months ago. This has been the final straw.
TV and land line cancelled, 100 Mb BB for £19.50 a month.
And a Youview box which I am seriously impressed with.

VM totally lost out as they gave me £60 credit and 6 months free Netflix when I renewed.
That'll teach them (it totally won't)

Just had £20 taken off my account, ok so I lost 40TV channels, not a problem. Thanks to Alan on retentions for his help

It just says December though.

Just got the letter with £4.50 increase on a £60.99 monthly bill.

Rang up, spoke to them nicely, got £3 per month off for six months, and whilst I was on, pud line rental in advance for £144, saving another £48 for the year....

Got my letter today £4.50 increase paying £53.24 at the moment with £10 promotional discount. Virtually halved my discount.

I'm still on the old VIP Collection (Currently £128.94 without discount) been on a £10 a month discount (so £118.94) since July 2013 (Got 6 months left) With upcoming rise of £4.89. Was there other rises for Sky Sports and Broadband in the last 18 months? So in the last 18 months my bills are back to when they were and in six months I will lose the discount and be paying a total of £133.83

VIP Collection includes
Talk International
Talk Unlimited Extra
T V Size: XL
2 Additional V+ Boxes
1 1TB TiVo
Broadband Size: XXL
Sky Movies
Sky Sports
Sky Premium HD
Line Rental

I don't need or want Line Rental, Talk International or Talk Unlimited Extra, could even add Sky Movies but the discounts I lose on the package deal means I will barely save anything. Will phone them tomorrow.

I only took out my VM contract on November 27th, and had a letter today saying it's going up by £3 in Feb.

Is that even legal?! It's been less than 1 month since I took the contract out, how can that be fair in the slightest?

Read your contract. It clearly states they can increase the charges but in return you are contractually allowed to cancel without penalty. The contract is written to protect both parties.

£3 a month discount when your rise is £4.50, think VM have won that one Hugh.

It's not about 'winning', it's about (imho) reaching an equitable resolution.

I understand that prices rise, so I believe it was win/win... :)

Re: Virgin Media to raise broadband and phone prices in Feb 2015

I received my letter saying it's going up by £4.89, when i had a quick check of my bill i only just relised that my Loyalty bonus of about £5'ish had expired in September, so Virgin Media wanted approx £100 for Tivo/V+ boxes, XXL BB, XL TV, and Talk Unlimited, so i wasn't happy with that at all.

Spoke to the retentions team, they pushed through my 152mb internet (Due to go ahead in January anyway) and brought my bills down to £77 come February, they're a little bit cheaper in January.

But happy enough with that result overall!
