Nah. Like others, they leave everything till its too late. Then we spend another 5 or so years playing the same fiddle to get back near the top. No ones got the bottle to make the change when the team is still relatively near the top.

Well unless you're Man City or Madrid who will happily cut a manager regardless.

Well l certainly don't think Zidane's much heralded return to Real Madrid is going to end well as there is a old saying in football and that is never go back to the same club again as a manager.

Quite a good goal by young Marcus ... He has potential , just needs to find a decent team to play for ;)

Is the motive racism though? Or is it just simply trying to put the players off? I'm pretty sure white players(eg Rooney, Beckham) have had abuse thrown at them, and the motive will have been trying to put them off playing.

What else can the motive behind their taunts be as racism is racism.

Racist taunts in my view are more likely to inspire a player rather then put them off as abuse of any sort is very disappointing to hear on a sporting pitch or within wider society.

FIFA and UEFA need to start issuing more harsher punishments or it will just continue unabated.

So what was the motive behind taunts aimed at white players? What are the motives for "sledging" in Cricket?

If the players are really not that bothered by the taunts, then why are they complaining? If they were really not that bothered they would rise above it, and the taunts would end up being a pointless ezercise.

Compare with the programme on BBC1 last night, "Hindus: Do We Have a Caste Problem?", where taunts were used by people's fellow Hindu work colleagues.

Taunts aimed at white players are not based on their skin colour, nor are they compared to other primates with monkey chants.

But they are both still aimed at putting the player(s) off. What taunts should they be using instead, that might have the intended result? The options are limited.

Sadly I don’t think for one minute the racist chants of the Bulgarian fascists are intended to simply ‘put the players off’ . The facist salutes, the flags and slogans all point to something far more sinister than simple goading of the opposition or sledging.

Well traditionally you out sing the other supporters eg. 'come on Rovers', thereby inspiring your players and subduing theirs. Monkey chants have an equal chance of inspiring those they are aimed at, as it did. They were probably right wing juvenile nationalists with no interest in football - same demographic we've had issues with over the years, but we've moved on.

If the chants are racist to put the players off, they’re still racist chants - not sure what you’re defending here?

Well they are certainly not fair-weather supporters as l always think one supports a club through thick and thin and equally through success and failure.
