Virgin in my area carries the London schedules. This may be a blip, but the 1830 listings on weekdays are always "This is BBC1" on 108(HD) with the familiar red caption followed by random HD clips until 1859. This is the case until Monday 18th October when from this date it lists BBC London News, i.e. as 101(SD).

Yes, I noticed that, too. I get BBC South, but until the week the listings come out for the date selected, the regional news displays 'BBC London'

The listings magazines are out tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see whether BBC South HD shows 'South Today'.

I think it does that every weekend for all the BBC regions and then fixes on a Monday. I have 'South Today' listing now for next week.

My EPG now displays ‘This is BBC1….’ so I guess we are not getting regional news in HD just yet.

The New BBC One regional Channels was rumoured to launch on October 21st.

As of 8.15pm on October 11th The "technical error" is still online

BBC ONE Cambridgeshire HD

https://www.bbc.co.uk/schedules/p09v555w/2021/10/21

But saying that I still to see / get information on the new BBC One regional channels testing anywhere.

how does cambridgeshire have its own regional channel....?

It's a 'West' opt-out (sub-region) of the BBC East region. Like Oxford is an opt-out from BBC South.

As predicted, listings updated, gone back to This Is BBC1 HD for regional 1830 shows. Rediculous that the BBC schedule page still shows regional HD headings but no schedule from 21 October

According to RXTVlog the satellite feed showed programming for all areas rather than just one, but was labelled with the local name in each area.

All that's really happening on Satellite is the feed will remain the same, but the channel name will be called Local TV everywhere.

The question is, does VM show a feed that shows all areas, like Sky, or individual feeds like is delivered through Freeview?

It may not change anything on VM either way.

Both companies are in a race to the bottom. Hopefully one of the two will take over the other company and any remaining straddlers. It can then be allowed to quietly go bust and bring closure to this complete mess.

As a line in the article says: "For nearly four years, six local channels have shared a single satellite feed with multiple labels."

There's no change on Satellite except for name and channel number. Nothing is closing, there was only 1 channel given 6 names.

So no savings on Astra transponder space just operating under a single SDT label with a demotion down the EPG. Why do they even bother?

There used to carry several of the local channels on Sky, but they merged them all into the Cardiff TV stream 4 years ago and use different channel labels in different areas for the one stream. That's probably why it says Cardiff is renaming and the others are closing.

On Sky each area has a 30 minute programme one after the next at breakfast, lunch and evening, with CBS Reality in the morning, afternoon and evening/overnight. The bulletins aren't exactly news - I was happened to briefly watch some of the Birmingham bulletin this lunchtime and there was a report on the Newcastle United takeover, followed by programme highlights on Amazon Prime.

Sky can word it how they like, it was still 1 stream for 4 years, and will remain so. All that's closing is a label (well 6 labels).

They are probably calling time on letting this bending of the rules slide to help alleviate the upcoming BBC3 EPG issue. They just need an excuse to shunt London Live to complete the job.

So is BBC3 expected to go on 117?

I wonder if this will mean that Reality TV will no longer want to use them to simulcast their programming, seeing as their own channel will now have a better EPG slot.

I was speculating re:BBC3. It might not go there, it certainly couldn't in every part of UK, but if it's empty it can be used indirectly in some areas.

The Reality TV simulcast will still be more prominent on DTT compared to its own channel on that platform, even it's no longer in a better position on Satellite.

Yes. I have got an Channel number free for BBC Three.

HD Channels comes first on my TV with BBC One on Channel 101. And Channel 5 +1 on Channel 105.

They are available where the local tv companies wanted them to be available. Most, if not all, of the "Made in.." areas were added to Virgin along with some of the independents. The original "That's..." areas weren't added, although, as they have acquired some of the smaller companies that were already on Virgin, those are still present (with the exception of Scotland). It's slightly weird that the "That's..." acquisitions still have their original service names on Virgin.

Those already on Virgin didn't seem to have any problems so I don't see why not. That's TV didn't add services on Virgin for their original channels and didn't continue with the carriage of the former STV owned local channels after they acquired them.

Maybe That's TV can't justify the carriage costs, not a surprise as they appear to have a problem with even justifying the cost of local content.

Maybe That's TV can't justify the carriage costs, not a surprise as they appear to have a problem with even justifying the cost of local content.

If any more That's TV Channels may launch on Virgin it will be That's TV Gold. I can see That's TV Local Channels being sold to Local Television (owners of Liverpool TV) by 2023.

That's TV Gold is a possible indication that the company are moving away from local tv and into an area that requires even less effort. Maybe they don't want to pay Virgin to carry the music video service either.

As that link reveal on Tuesday. You may see your local BBC One programmes via the BBC Iplayer in the coming months but the English regions of BBC One HD channels will launch on Virgin Media (V6 and TiVo), Freesat, Freeview HD, Sky Digital and Sky Q sometime in 2022 with BBC Two Northern Ireland HD, BBC ALBA HD and BBC Parliament HD

We’ll be continuing our rollout to other platforms throughout next year, with the aim of launching BBC One HD services across England on all platforms by the end of 2022. At the same time as the BBC One HD regional rollout, we’ll also be adding HD versions of some of our other channels (such as BBC Two Northern Ireland, BBC ALBA and BBC Parliament) to other platforms.

As far as I know, they will take a feed direct from Comux. Comux has the contract for distribution and basically technical operations. It was meant to allow the local channels to concentrate on local programmes - if only they had!

I think BBC2 NI is not currently HD on Satellite. I vaguely recall that was the only place they didn't launch it. Someone would have to confirm regard Freeview situation though.

What on Earth for? There are minimal variations between the regional BBC2 programmes these days.

If you really want to see the odd regional programme that appears on there, it’ll be on the BBC iPlayer wherever you live in the country.

How difficult is it to access the iPlayer in your house, Hugh! It’s on the Sky, Virgin, BT and TalkTalk boxes already, as well as all smart TVs. No need to change the input, and don’t forget, we are talking about accessing the odd programme here, none of which have mass appeal.

BBC 2 Wales has so little that's worth watching l wouldn't worry that much. However the one (for me) thing that really bugs about a regional channel on BBC is the weather forecast . At the weekend we get BBC national news followed by Wales news and weather forecast, then the weather forecast again !!

106. E4
108. Channel 4 (Wales only)

147. More4
195. More 4 HD
196. More 4 +1

104. Channel 4 HD [Scotland region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [Northern Ireland region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [North region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [Midlands region]*

It could be anything, but as the slate is seemingly destined for channels 100 and 106, maybe it’s Sky Showcase. After all, we are paying for a channel that mainly simulcasts programmes from other Sky channels.

They could ditch Sky Replay while they are at it.

We wouldn’t be missing anything and maybe Virgin could use the savings towards getting us Sky Atlantic!

Just a thought… :D

As you may know when Virgin Media UHD Channel (Channels 228/999) is not broadcasting the EPG says "Welcome to Virgin TV Ultra HD".

But I have found from November 1st the EPG says "Try Virgin UHD on Channel 999".

Also TiVo has confirmed that The Box rebrand to BoXmas has been move back by an week by owners Channel 4. So BoXmas will now start on November 8th.

Why would a slate appear on Virgin TV Showcase (100) and E4 (106) if they were removing the recently launched Sky Showcase (109/110)? I can't see any logic there. 🤔

My own view if Virgin has signed an new deal with Channel 4 for the soon to launch more local Channel 4 HD Channels that are testing on Sky right now.

I can see Virgin axing 4Seven, E4 and More 4 SD Channels so that all Channel 4 sister channels can sit together on Channels 141 to 147.

And would be like the following:

104. Channel 4 HD [Scotland region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [Northern Ireland region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [North region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [Midlands region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [South & East region]*
106. BBC Three HD (Channel set to launch in January 2022)
108. Channel 4 HD [Wales region]*
141. Channel 4 +1
142. 4Seven HD
143. E4 HD
144. E4 +1
145. More 4 HD
146. More 4 +1
147. 4Music
854. Channel 4 AD

*New Channel 4 HD are testing on Sky right now.

Well Ch100 often hosts pop-up channels and Ch606 is in the News section. And when BT has done sporting freebies they've been in Sports and Ch100. So that would fit.

When I was posting my post last night I was thinking that E4 may move or be axe by Virgin Media tonight so Sky News COP 26 Channel can launch on Virgin UK Channel 106 and also to make way for BBC THREE HD to launch in January 2022 on that Channel.

epsilon has posted the following over on DS Forum in the last few days about what may happen to Channel 106.

Just a heads up. I've been informed that a couple of information slates are being prepared. They have service names of "Important Information" and are configured to use channel numbers 100 and 106. No other information is available but this seems to mean that E4 will be moving away from 106.

I probably won't be around much over the next few weeks but will update whenever possible.

The pre-launch EPG slots have changed, or at least one of them. Channel 100 is still in the configuration, with channel 106 being changed to 114. So a movement from the existing E4 slot to the existing ITV +1 slot. Confused yet? There seems to be no logic to this.

I may be wrong, but the logic I see is that ITV will finally decide it does not need 113 as all the regions covered by VM are HD (or there's been pressure from other parties), so are moving the +1 up one. STV will obviously follow suit for STV+1. 114 being the lowest empty slot after this will be offered to Channel 4 to make up for releasing 106 for BBC3, rather than it go way up to its previous slot on 144 which has been held empty all this time just in case. Channel 4 seem to like their channels being on EPG numbers that have a 4, so 114 is ideal. ITV/STV obviously would rather claim 113 once it's not required by them for HD rather than a rival get it.

RE: ITV Channels.

I was thinking that way in the last hour.

Maybe Virgin will reuse Channel 144 for an other Channel 4 own channel so it can sit together on the EPG (Some ideas are on Plan B to Plan D).

144. E4 HD
145. E4 +1
146. More4 HD
147. More4
195. More 4 +1
196. 4Music

What may happen (TiVo listed) PLAN C:
104. Channel 4 HD [Scotland region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [Northern Ireland region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [North region]*
104. Channel 4 HD [Midlands region]*

A source has told Planet Sport that a deal has been agreed for DAZN to buy out BT Sport from next summer.

The streaming service have made a huge impact around the world over the last five years in Europe, North America and Japan.

If DAZN get BT Sport i would imagine they could potentially try to get the WWE Network on their streaming app like Peacock did.

They won't DAZN have no interest in WWE, also as it stands not many networks see WWE as a worthy addition.

The bits of WWE that BT Sport have is the bits which are not in WWE Network.

The same goes for Peacock in the US - the bits that BT Sport has are on other networks in the US and are not on Peacock.

I don't think the WWE will offer their premium assets to a streaming service.

I wasn't looking at it in that much detail. I didn't see the logic in the move from 106 to 114 for a pre-launch slate. I was told this morning that the slate has launched with the wording "This Virgin Media service will no longer be supported and will be closing on 30th November 2021" and a link to an offer for a replacement V6 box. Presumably a final offer for users of old legacy set top boxes which have already been restricted to PSB channels only. I believe those boxes will see ITV SD on 113, so the slate will appear before and after PSB channels on the EPG on those boxes. If the slate had been left on 106, it would have been in the middle of the PSB range, so the reason for the change of slot is now more obvious.

Virgin Media has today move all Kids Channels back to Kids Pack - but I see that Cartoon Network HD is still on Channel 732 on my boxes.

Also all Asian channels are now FREE until November 14th.

I know that V Boxes did die in January 2019 (My late Dad has one in his bedroom).

So it will be V+ Boxes that are set to close later this month on the 30th. My Dad move over to TiVo in April 2019 so I do not know that is broadcasting on V+ Boxes. But latest I know of in here: https://www.cableforum.uk/board/show...php?t=33707489

From what I was told this morning, 12 of the 13 Kids channels that had been free to all subscribers have been moved back to the Kids Pack and whatever pack Baby TV is in. So that would tie in with CN HD still being available. Shhh! they might not notice. :D
