Most garages have a 3 month waranty parts and labour. Their claim will be with the manufacturer of the rack. I would expect the work to be done FOC.

That does not sound good Mr M. The drive tomorrow sounds like the worst idea in the world unless you find some way of relieving pain. :(

Oh forgot to add why I came to the thread.

My moan is about the delivery firm Hermes. We were under the impression that DPD would be delivering a parcel but they passed it over to Hermes who insist the parcel has been left in our garage as we were out.

We were in all day and our car, parked near the garage at the end of a 60ft driveway was blocking direct access to it. OK the garage door was open but my husband, at the time of the claimed delivery, was sat in our conservatory overlooking both the driveway and garage. No one came to our front door and the only way to get to the garage would have been to pass our wide open conservatory door. Added to which if we are not in we have a standing request that parcels be taken to our next door neighbour, who was also at home all day. Grrrrr

l hope your back gets better soon Mr M as there is nothing worse then having serious back pain and if it does not improve soon then l think you would be wise to see your GP.

I was in a similar predicament with my back, sorry to say my GP was useless only giving me a prescription for strong pain killers.
I ended up having a hospital appointment to have steroid injections into my spine.

I had back ache like that years, just come on all of a sudden and I saw a neurologist and orthopod who both found no cause of the back ache. About 18 months after it started, I woke up one morning and the back ache was gone. No explanation as to why it happened or cleared up suddenly. But what a massive relief it was.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Oh dear den, hope no new bad news.

As for my Nan, got there at five past 12, had her ECG and BP done about quarter past 12, was called in at 20 to 1, and we were down at the bus stop by about 10 past 1. Consultant thinks it is all muscular, not anything worse thankfully. Apparently though, one of the valves is either leaky or tight, so she needs to have an ultrasound, and if that is fine then just yearly visits to keep an eye on her. Will be leaving some glowing feedback for the trust this afternoon. So a lot better than I feared this morning, and hopefully the ultrasound won't lead to her needing an angiogram.

denphone 09-06-2015 14:49

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

l am glad that it looks like there is nothing even worse for your Nan Mark and hopefully the ultrasound will show nothing sinister either.

l always knew it would be a plethora of appointments this week Mark as it was my aim to shoehorn then all into the same week with a bit of luck as we will be visiting my parents at the end of the month up the line and touch wood hopefully the results will show at least things are as stable as they can be with my ongoing conditions.

joglynne 09-06-2015 14:51

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

That all sounds very positive mark. I am sure that if the Consultant had any doubts about his diagnosis or that the valve problem was of any major consequence then he would be fast forwarding the ultrasound. On the plus side she will end up having heart check ups at the best possible place which should mean any deterioration in the condition of her heart is picked up at an earlier stage.

@ Den. From the smillie after your post I am hoping that to-day went well and that you have hopes of a similar out come tomorrow and Thursday. :)

Yes he said he was fairly happy and said there had been no deterioration in the heart function from last time and hopefully the other tests will show nothing untoward then usual on Thursday.

There are many side effects from having chemotherapy so its down to the individual whether they think it is beneficial for them to go through with it so there is a lot to weigh up before one decides to go through with it that's for sure.

On I am so sorry to hear this. What scary news weenie. Do read up on the conditions though as actually knowing what it means has to be better than all the nightmare imaginings that are probably going through your mind anyway.

Here is a link to the pages I found the most informative when it was suspected that my Blood condition was a result of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I was lucky and it was ruled out but I can still remember feeling as though the bottom had fallen out of my world at the time.

I do understand how she feels weenie and the prospect of some of the treatments available would make me feel the same way.

Quality of life means a lot to me, far more than living for a longer time. I made that choice and have not regretted the decision I made. Just don't waste time wishing things were different, celebrate your time with your mum, make every day count. I still have a long list of things I want to do and though I may never get to go over the Niagara Falls in a hot air balloon reading that entry always makes me smile.

Thank you for your kind words. I have a big sister who lives in Glasgow nash and Jo's message was lovely and made me think and those words to me were celebrate your time with your mum & make every everyday count which is something I intend to do. Jo has a quality about her, Jo always seems to know just what to say to make someone feel better and point them to the positives in life. This is a moan about so called gentlemen.

On Friday I took my mum to have a scan at the UCH London, as we had to be there at 10am we had to get the tube at Epping at 8am, now that morning I woke to pain from tendonitis, so I had to use some crutches as I couldn't put weight on my foot, there was a delay and I got on a packed train and a woman offered her seat for me which I happily took, the men just carried on reading their papers.

We arrived at Oxford Circus and had to change to the Victoria line to Warren St. again a woman offered me her seat, but I declined stating I was getting off at the next stop.

The return leg to Oxford Circus was the same only a woman offered me her seat, again I declined stating I was getting off at the next stop.

The last leg I was able to get a seat.

Chrome and my printer. I can print Word, Excel and PDF files with no trouble. Yet every page I've printed from Chrome today has been off centre. Not sure how to fix that.

So sorry to hear this weenie. All the very best to your mum and the rest of the family at this difficult time. Jo's right, you have to try to be positive and talking always helps even when it hurts.

I just received a Dell XPS 13 and it has a whining noise when that fan kicks in. It goes back first thing in the morning.

Brilliant otherwise....

Took our cat (Tobin) to the vets this morning, looks like he's been hit by a car :( - he's doing ok and staying in for more tests but we shall have to wait and see what they have to say.

The driver who hit Tobin should have taken him to the vet IMO how anyone could hit any family pet and fail to check if it's okay is beyond me after all it is illegal to 'hit and run' dogs or farm animals and I personally think cats should have the same rights.

Hope Tobin makes a full recovery dilli.

We just received a communication from the local epilepsy service concerning Osem Jnr#2. Inside, unexpectedly, was a cheery leaflet entitled Sudden Death in Epilepsy and a compliments slip...

Not nice! :(

That is awful Osem. I hope you are going to do something about such a tactless piece of post. I know such leaflets exist and that, at times, they can be extremely helpful but I don't think that they should be sent out in such seemingly random and ill-considered manner just because they have someone on their mailing list.

Thanks everyone. I should have made clear that there was another document in the envelope for our attention. Anyway, if it wasn't just a mistake, I'm pretty sure it was well intentioned but an error of judgement, nonetheless, by someone we do in fact know. I'm really not sure how best to deal with it - I'd hate anyone else to receive one in the same manner out of the blue...

If you know the person especially, then talking it over, be it on the phone or in person would be best.

Yes, I'm sure the information given was valid, but leaflets should be a compliment to, not a replacement to being cared for in a personal manner. If someone had sat you down and said "I know this is very rare, but I think it's best that you know..." I'm guessing it wouldn't have been a bad thing, despite the subject matter?

id tell them ASAP - others may not be able to handle it as well as you seem to be :tu:

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Yup, I think I'll have a chat with the person concerned and just make the point that we'd have preferred to deal with the subject in person. It may seem odd but, although we know epileptic seizures can be fatal, we'd never really imagined it may happen to our lad and it's not a subject which has come up during the many consultations we've had over the years. He's so fit and strong it's hard to imagine him succumbing to anything and the thought that he might, if his condition were to worsen, is sobering. He's a gift in so many ways! :(

Two things.

Shops selling school uniforms when the schools here are just breaking up for the holidays.

Parents who are moaning about the school holidays already, I love it when the school breaks up for the holidays, I even loved the school holidays when I was working and having to juggle with child care.

I'm not fussed about the holidays, as long as the neighbour over the way doesn't let her kids play outside from 8 in the morning until 9 at night. A couple of hours screaming I can just about tolerate, but not 12 hours of it.

Especially as last week they were throwing stones and some hit me on the ankle. Little beggars soon ran away when they realised they had hit someone.
