Yes we really need a CB but I am happy with Welbeck. I think he is exactly what we need short of a world class striker.

Pleased that it's a permanent deal as well. I hate loan deals unless you really don't wish to retain that player or you have a ironclad option to buy clause. Good for temporary cover, not so good for players you actually need longer term.

Really Den? I always thought Valdes was a good shot stopper but a bit flappy overall. He'd be on his ass with his arm in the air most of the time when he's challenged.

He distributes the ball very well which will fit in with Brendon's style.

Indeed as Mignolet in my book has several weaknesses and distribution is one of them.

Manchester United splashed out £150m this summer but that's small change when they are raking in millions from sponsors United made £152m in 2012-13 and expect an increase to £240m this season
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...-sponsors.html

Reading newspaper articles about United over the past month has made me laugh, journalists at first saying the squad needs investment and won't compete unless they spend money. Then when they spend money the same journalists write articles saying that the club have panicked and are trying to buy their way back to the top. Olliver Holt at the mirror is one of the worst:
Quote:

Woodward must act fast and boldly. Otherwise, another season of mediocrity beckons. Maybe not but if United do not make significant acquisitions in the transfer market in the next fortnight, a bleak landscape stretches ahead.

Quote:

Man United's Radamel Falcao transfer shows they have panicked and joined in the rich clubs' lucky dip
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...ansfer-4152849

Criticises them for not spending money and then critcises when they do, its poor journalism just trying to wind people up. I still don't believe buying a world class player that will definitely improve your squad can ever be considered a panic buy.

The quality they are looking for is not currently available , wanted vemalen (went to barca) , hummells (not for sale) , mangala ( went to man city). I'm sure they're going to spend again in January on defenders if the correct man is available.

Just been checking the Spurs website for tickets for the away game with Arsenal - Adult admission is £64 per ticket.

This what is putting me off the game, and sit in front of the telly. Clubs are pricing the fans out of the game.

Ridiculious prices to pay to gain entry to a game. Its make me wonder now why clubs get all this money to buy expensive players.

You would have thought that clubs would take into account that everyone is suffering financially, Also today l found out that a club is paying £285.000 per WEEK for a player. Ridiculous

Fans said it all tonight, in the England game. Replace Hodgson, before its too late.

We need someone in charge who will inspire the side. Sadly, he didn't even say sorry to the fans for a dismal World Cup. He always had excuses. He forgets one thing - fans paid a lot of money to see England play.
The only goal we scored came from the Pen.

Sadly Arsenal are one of the dearest clubs to visit in the PL Arthur so yes the better option is watching it on your TV.

Arthurgray50@blu 04-09-2014 13:57

Re: Football Season 2014/15

Denphone, there should be a cap on pricing for games, and it shouldn't be that we pay so much to go towards a player.

I remember going to a Spurs game 25 years ago - l paid £8.00. My son bought three tickets two years ago, and it cost £250.00

I am sure many fans have the same problem. I believe Celtic have a pay structure that if you show your UB40 for the unemployed, you get in half price - not sure on that though

Clubs should be doing more to get the fans into grounds and reduce prices - especially when they get Tv money as well.

Like Shadow says players need to play in their right position as you cannot put square pegs in round holes.

iadom 09-09-2014 08:49

Re: Football Season 2014/15

But there was one specific instance when Welbeck was played in the middle up front and he totally went against direct instructions.

Against B Munich last season it had been identified that Neuer always jumps early when one on one, all the United players were instructed to shoot low in such circumstances. What does Welbeck do when he found himself in this exact position, he tried to chip Neuer who saved easily.

Apparently Welbeck got a bollicking for that and found his chances to perform limited afterwards.

But as I said, I sincerely wish him well at Arsenal.

If the poor officials had seen Wiltshire's blatant handball, it would have been a win for City.

Once again Cheating Arsenal

You think after being in arsenals shadow for so long spuds would concentrate on their own teams glaring inadequacies instead of criticising others

Why is it that Arsenal fans always come out and say that everything was fine.

Its about time some people said ' yes, it was apenalty and leave it at that' Even the Tv people said it was a penalty.

Which arsenal fan has done that then, you don't need to be an arsenal fan to be able to point out spurs glaring inadequacies

What about Remy? Any regrets? :)

I am a life long Spurs fan, and if we have done something wrong, l will be the fiurst to admit it.

But for someknown reason Arsenal fans seems to allow things to happen at the club, and not batter an eyelid.

In truth Arsenal have a manager shouldn't be there. If he were at Chelsea or Man Urd, or even Liverpool. He wouldn't last five minutes.

Even Welbeck - for prime example. Utd sold him as he wasn';t good enough - thats truth.

Yes because sacking managers has worked so well for spurs, it's one of their glaring inadequacies and weren't Tottenham in for welbeck to...

It's only QPR but I like this. Welcome to the era of the Van Gaalacticos :)

The test will come when you play real Premier league sides.

That's true and I don't think United will win the league this year but the swagger is coming back and we're finally looking like a team again. A few months for the side to fully gel and we'll be back in the CL come May.

Yes l certainly think you will get a CL spot as it will be Arsenal or my beloved that will miss out.

Its good to see some pace back into the team again, I was impressed with how Blind played as well. Obviously it wasn't much of a challenge but there were good signs there.

Decent game, great atmosphere. For a team with several newcomers they did play well in midfield and up front but you could still have driven a coach and horses through the defence, thankfully QPR came on a rocking horse.:p:

Blind probably shaded MOM for me but Rojo, Herrera, Di Maria and Rafael all played well.

There won't be many teams that beat QPR 4-0 at home...so certainly playing well
