Nancy Drew has been quite good so far (as has Batwoman).
Both being given the 22 is no surprise, they have been doing ok, and if they didnt extend them, they would need to fill the schedule with something else.
A show has got to be really really bad for CW not to extend it.

that is absolutely flipping fantastic news. The last thing you want (and I was dreading) is that after all this time of waiting to get those characters back they disappear again. Amazon have been very clever in renewing it as early as possible to make sure they keep the actors. I dont know what the long term story arc is going to be but tbh if I was Amazon Studios I would renewing it and guaranteeing 5 seasons right now.

It's a CBS All Access production- Amazon bought the broadcast rights for outside of USA so it's CBS making the decisions, and a good one this is.

Some of the second season of shorts have been outstanding, the tribble one. Others have not been good at all. The two animated ones.

The Picard one was also a total letdown. They never bothered to even use ships from that era. The only things they used were Discovery era ships and shuttles!!

It is going to be a costs thing. I got the impression with the season 1 shorts that they didn't cost anything and it was a case of "everyone is busy filming the next episode on the bridge atm so why don't we pop down to the mess hall for 1 hour and try and film 15 minutes of naff". If they were going to do the Picard one properly it would have cost a fortune because they would have had to hire additional help outside of the Discovery production team and made new models and all sorts of other stuff.

Never watched it, but as I understand it, with season 4 they are up to the late 70s, so I suspect they could have got, at most, 2 more seasons (5 & 6) to bring them up to date.

No surprise, Apple basically ordered 2 seasons of both See & For All Mankind in the hope they would be successful (and indeed other series as well, since they are the only original content they have atm).

The bigger surprise would be if it got a 3rd season, since its not really gone down well.
