Got to say that Virgin not carrying al-Jazeera in this unprecedented time in the Middle East is bad form, especially when it's on all other providers, Freeview and Freesat included and is free on their website.

13 lost......

4 of which were +1's

2 NTL only (one was +1)

1 shopping channel

one softcore porn channel

one radio

3 shut down so nothing VM could have donw.

Apart from Brovo and Virgin not a great deal lost.

What we got in its place is worth having plus all the HD channels, simulcast or not.......

Enjoy Cinemoi, I'm off to Sky:D

I watched Cinemoi and there is some great films on there,no problems in watching the subtitles, gutted when it went to a pay channel

what surprised me about the numbers were the broadband Installations,Is it people dont want gardens/drives dug up,or are they satisfied with the speed that they can get through the phone line,in that case that leaves HD or on demand

VM is still only 2nd to BT (which has twice as much coverage) for actual broadband customers and recently over took TalkTalk.

Most broadband customers of cable are loyal, as once you go fibre optic, not many go back to copper :D

Suppose it all depends which out of the channels is going to get the most customers. And the content on Pop TV isn't going completely, so may be better delivered that way.

This.

I think since moving to Virgin I've continued using my Sky HD box more than I have the Virgin, purely because of Al Jazeera's superior news coverage.

Virgin's current News choice is poor at the moment

Freeview is stronger. Can't understand why Virgin won't give the paying customer more choice.

As a whole I can't see Virgin adding much this year, they will be to busy concentrating on TiVo which is a shame as we can't all afford it.

People moan on here about VM channel offering but look at this comparison

VM XL TV including ESPN and HD = £24.50 from April
Sky 6 mix = £24.50
ESPN = £12.00 if you don't have Sky sports
HD charge £10.25

So VM with XL and free ESPN and HD = £24.50
compare to
Sky with HD and ESPN = £46.75

Are them extra HD channels worth £22.25 only you can answer.

Some people with Sky premiums may find the gap is closer.

You forgot to add in the £6 extra that VM charge for not having a VM phone line. Stll cheaper, but not as much cheaper.

If you have an additional set top box with VM, ESPN would be available on both boxes at no additional charge (other than the multi-room charge). If you have Sky Multi-room, ESPN would only be available on the one box (the viewing card subscribed to it).

If you don't have, or never intend to have, multi-room then that point is totally useless, but thought I'd make it anyway! :p:

As I've stated there has to be a big push on HD this is a growth area for VM , TiVo is great but you still need the content for it. Everybody who buys a new TV gets a HD one and then looks for a service to provide HD.

Prices from April have increased £1.00. How would they charge for base channels it would be complicated.

I'm already paying £7.00 for SKY Sports and SKY Movies HD. If they asked for another £3.00 per month in return for all of the missing HD channels I'd bite their hand off! Well I say I'm paying £7.00, but it's part of VIP50 so I've got no idea what I'm actually paying for it:confused::D

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.

Many countries provide some HD channels at no cost. In typical Sky style, they've dictated the HD market which VM and others must now follow, although VM broke the mould by providing some HD "free". So, it's not a given that new channels will cost more money.

There will come a time when most, if not all channels, will be in HD. Infrastructures will be updated to cope. Heck, 100MB Broadband couldn't have been dreamed about a few years ago.

Sky will be soon be the ones to be left behind due to the many flaws and limitations of the satellite system. Cable is, and always will be the future...

posting saying ' i would like xyz channel ' or similar is fine to a point ... but confirmed new content additions would be a whole lot better ...

gotta agree with earlier posts that VM have their head in the tivo sand bank and are not exactly trying hard on other fronts right now

roll on the official tivo launch and the finish of BB upgrades then we might get some actual new channel action in coming soon vol III

Well, VM aren't a one trick pony, they are bringing out more channels and more HD.

Sure TiVo is a high priority, but that won't be at the cost of "new" channels. :)

are you saying that VM your employers are a "multi trick pony":shocked::shocked: ... only kidding

if i actually think about what i watch and what i may watch then i probably have too many channels now i dont use ... cant think of any i desperately want although improving the PQ on the existing ones wouldnt go amiss (SD mostly but even ITV1 HD has a better PQ though FTA sat than through VM and even freeviewHD beats the VM PQ when watching the footy over the weekend)

horses for courses as tv viewing habits is and always will be a matter of personal taste so wont knock VM for not adding things that would require an extortionate fee but maybe VM will take the sky route in future and have packages of channels to pick n mix what each individual wants (but i doubt it :D )

VM wouldn't be able to offer inclusive HD, ESPN, TV Choice or Music On Demand on XL if it went that route. Would result in a poor choice in the end. :)

It would be nice to get other regions, I live in Stoke-on-Trent and there is news coverage from both Manchester and Birmingham regional news. There appears to be a north south devide of the city!!!

Can`t say I`m over excited about this channel as I have no interest in games what-so-ever. Others will be excited I guess (like opening your presents on Christmas day wondering what new toys you`ve got `eh boys!).

Shame. Would be nice to be able to watch Super League Show when it's on in the north, rather than 4am the next day. At least I have V+ now and can tape it :)

Thanks for the updated list media boy.

BBC Alba is no longer on your list, or at least I can't see it. I take it then that Virgin have no intention of including the channel and I'll have to wait till it's on Freeview.

BBC ALBA was set to launch on Virgin Media last Summer.

But I have removed BBC ALBA from my list as I have not been given any new launch date for BBC ALBA to launch on Virgin Media by any of my insiders.

Cinemoi appeared as a freebie in January, so I added it to my favourites.

Now it's gone from the listings so I can't remove it from my favourites or even subscribe to it!

Try this:

1) Go to the ''Home'' page,
2) Go to ''Setting'' or press number 8,
3) Go to ''Set Your Favourite Channels'' or press number 5,
4) Press the right button until your under ''Favourite Channels'',
5) Press ''Red'' until you see ''445 Cinemoi'',
6) Then press the ''OK'' button.

I know what you mean, I contacted Cindy Rose in early January, they were still in negotiations and asked me to be patient as they were trying to find a way of bringing ESPNA HD to VM customers at an affordable price.

this actually worries me that it is taking so long to get ESPNA in HD. Is there as negotiation issue with ESPN in general?

Now that I have had ESPN - ESPNA in particular - if we lost it it is the one thing that would probably drive me back to SKY - no matter what I feel about them. I can even live with it in SD though I would prefer HD of course :)

ESPNA HD are sure making that point in program breaks and have you noticed how they are saying" available now contact your local supplier" just to rub it in!

What do you mean? We have a fault with some missing content and it's with our Support Teams. It's not a total loss of VoD, but a recognised issue that we are trying to get to the bottom of.

I'm not in work, but at a guess it's with a Support team that we don't have an SLA with.

Any fix time would be an estimate at best. All our fault teams work 24/7.

to be honest, this is one of the restrictions of the Status Page. It doesn't allow us to be more sprecific, as it could be anything that is missing from the platform, asset wise :)

EDIT: I know Preston/Wigan are having a seperate issue at the moment, but that isn't posted to the status page. The one above is a national issue.

Yes i have got the same problem, it started with the US boxsets last month ( when i had to post on the community forum ) and it was solved.

So all we need to do is wait as we are unable to know what the problem is and as DF says they are only estimates that they give so lets sit it out and wait till resolved:D:D:D

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. I.

Premier Sports not coming soon according to their Facebook page.

"Virgin Update; We met with Virgin last week and they told us they had never received any customer comments asking for our service to be added! So here is the plan. Can people email a brief note asking for us to be on Virgin to enquiries@premiersports.tv and we will deliver them to the desk of the main man. I already have over 200 printed off and even if you have written before write again!"

If this is true then I'm totally shocked and unhappy with Virgin. How can Virgin claim to have received no requests? I've personally sent about 4 requests. I thought Virgin valued our feedback?

Looks like we'll need to start e-mailing Premier Sports as above if we want the channel to be added.

I had this a while back after using some music videos. I called in and she said I can see that you're on XL and it has charged you, so she did a manual credit.

Unlikely as I assume True Entertainment will just use the existng Pop stream when it closes.

Pop and True are owned by the same company, it seems to be a similar scenario to when MTV closed a few channels on VM so they could use the bandwidth to launch some others. I don't think any of those channels actually closed down, nor is Pop they were/are just being removed from VM.

I'm guessing it must be mightly expensive to get a channel on cable if they feel it necessary to trade slots, maybe thats why some broadcasters seem reluctant and don't bother.

Star Network to launch UK's first HD Asian Channel.

There's Technical problems in harlow in essex to there's a video message coming on the virgin on demand saying that there in the middle of sorting it out but then it cuts out and plays justin bieber? and also last weeks episode of coming of age is not on the On Virgin Media demand service aswell.
