Yep, it was for me anyway regards to one match. Another match was stupid and had no place on the card.

That Rumble was a joke, the title match was epic. Although I was a bit OMG about Brock getting up and winning, after needing treatment by medics. Think the RTW is going to suck big time. Normally my favourite time of year, but think this is the beginning of the end.

Hopefully, this big announcement tomorrow night is Vince retiring. Think HHH and Stephanie will push some new names. How Vince doesn't get that if he doesn't push new names now, he will be screwed when Cena and Orton hang up their boots is beyond me.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

First time I've watched a WWE show in like 6 months now. Dismal stuff. The crowd reaction to reigns winning said it all. I still dislike the direction this company is going. Lesnar/Cena/Rollins couldn't save it regardless of an epic title match.

Been scrapped by the looks of it. Fast Lane will probably be a letdown. Sting and HHH doing a face to face, which will lead to the ultimate fight at WM. Cena being taken out of title picture by facing Rusev for US Title, expect Rusev to win setting up a fight against Rock at WM.

That predictable eh? Brock will return to UFC later this year. Probably fight a few bums for big payouts before Cain Velasquez permanently retires him.

I think Brock's contract expires at WM, just like Sting's contract. So far Sting has made 2 of his 6 scheduled appearances. Just waiting now for it to be announced about him going into the HoF. Might be what this big announcement on RAW was about (I don't know if it is or not, haven't watched yet).

HHH can usually get a decent match out of anyone but Sting is in his 50s and has only wrestled sparingly over the past 5-10 years so on paper it certainly seems like the WM top draw but I'm not sure I'd want to see it.

With Rusev being the nasty all-conquering Russian you'd expect them to book Cena to go over but I can't see them putting the US title on him, that would be a massive step down. It makes me wonder who they'll have to end his unbeaten run - it needs to be someone 'big' enough to beat him considering nobody else has been able to but not so big as to make the US title look too 'small'. Had they not killed his push I'd have suggested maybe Jack Swagger, but the only one I can think of right now would be Cesaro if they turned him face, considering how they always but over how strong he is.

MalteseFalcon 04-02-2015 14:23

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I would be massively torn in a Triple H and Sting match, as I am a massive fan of both of them. Would hope that any match would be worth the mega bucks deal Sting signed. And if Sting doesn't get a HoF spot this year then it will be total BS.

Card for WM seems to be the following (suggested only):

Sting v HHH
Ziggler v Bryan
Reigns v Lesnar
Meaningless Divas match that nobody cares about
Rollins v Cena
Rock v Rusev for US Title

Did you catch HHH on the Stone Cold podcast this week? It was completely non-kayfabe. About the Hall of Fame he was saying it's a lot more than just who they think should go in, a lot of other things influence it, such as money of course, sometimes guys don't want to go in just yet etc

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

He's not been the same since around 2009, those matches against Triple H took it out of him and I think he needs to seriously consider retiring. Any WM appearance now will be totally devoid of reason now the streak is dead.

I'm glad though he got the person he wanted to end the streak, he'd said for a couple of years that he wanted Lesnar to end it.

Those on DS think it is because SKY are trying to tempt people into watching it and subscribing to the Network. Knowing it is on SKY Sports means I will tape it on TiVo and keep the sub in place to watch WM or most of it live anyway on the Network.

Just seen a video of Undertaker with Michelle McTaker, and he does look old. Certainly doesn't look like he could live up to the Undertaker gimmick any more. Think it is time he retired gracefully, go out at the top.

Now that the streak has gone, I see no need for the Undertaker to fight at WrestleMania anymore.

Russ 25-03-2015 07:36

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Word is rife that Lesnar has signed a new contract with WWE and therefore retired from MMA.

Anyway, my prediction for Wrestlemania.

Heyman turns on Lesnar so he loses the title and aligns himself with Roman Reigns, who obviously needs help on the mic. This makes RR turn heel, Lesnar turns face.

That way Reigns gets his Wrestlemania moment, the fans get what they want. RR is currently getting a 'John Cena' reaction but as Reigns' merch doesn't make the same sort of money Cena's does WWE would be far more willing to allow him to be heel.

Later on The Rock makes an appearance asking his cousin why he turned on his fans, letting down the family etc. Reigns attacks The Rock. Reigns is then pushed as the major badass who everyone doubted but managed to not only win the Heavyweight title but also beat the man who ended Taker's streak.

MalteseFalcon 25-03-2015 10:32

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Yeah this rumour has been going round for ages now. Makes sense really, and Lesnar had to either win the title at WM or sign a new deal, as he must get a rematch at Extreme Rules (or whatever it is called now).

Reigns needs someone like Heyman to cut promos for him. Usos look likely to win tag titles in pre show, Bellas will win with Paige or AJ turning heel on the other. Most likely Paige, as her and the Bellas are on Total Divas.

To be honest though, cannot get excited about WM this year. With the streak of Taker dead, there is nothing really to watch the show for.

adzii_nufc 25-03-2015 13:02

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I haven't watched it since last year's WM... Might tune in but I'm uncertain. Lesnar made a good decision in staying though. He's not the badman MMA fighter they make out to be, he's a chinless wreck in MMA terms and easily one of the worst heavyweights in the history of UFC despite what he's made out to be. He always has credit from me though for being the guy that took a fight when he was barely 20% there is simply nothing for him in UFC besides the same paychecks as WWE. He can't challenge for the UFC title for the reasons above so there's no point really. Punk is exactly the same, Punk will get 2 bum fights then get landed with a real fighter and find himself staring at the ceiling, it happened with Lashley and don't get me started on Batista and his awful one fight and retirement.

Anyone fancy listing the WM card? Also some WWE network details if possible, free 30days etc or pricing. Does it still have the minimum sub length?

MalteseFalcon 25-03-2015 13:30

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Sub is still $9.99 a month, but apparently there is no minimum length you can cancel when you want. Personally, be worth getting it for a month, be cheaper than £19.95 on Box Office.

Card:

Kidd/Cesaro (c) v Los Matadores v Usos v New Day for Tag Titles
Brock Lesnar v Roman Reigns for World Title
Sting v Triple H
Andre the Giant Battle Royal, for the Andre Memorial Trophy
Bad News Barrett (c) v Dean Ambrose v Daniel Bryan v Dolph Ziggler v Luke Harper v Stardust v R Truth for IC Title, ladder match a la MITB match
Rusev v Cena for US Title
AJ & Paige v Bella Twins
Undertaker v Bray Wyatt
Randy Orton v Seth Rollins

Russ 25-03-2015 15:38

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

There's no free periods any more but at £9.99 per month it's very good value. You won't have Raw or Smackdown but the documentaries etc as well as every WWE, WCW and ECW PPV is worth it.

If someone hit you with with a hammer would you really want to shake hands and hug after? Kayfabe's dead.

Awesome RKO from Orton and the main event was excellent, looked like legit heat between Lesnat and Reigns. Brilliant swerve at the end by making it a triple threat.

It was the numerous run ins and the fact HHH got a needless win that's annoyed me. Sure who doesn't want to see DX and the nWo but running into a perfectly good matchup, no for me.

Wrestlemania for me has always been about long epic matches with clean wins, those are the rare matches I enjoy.

What I did was looked at the results before watching, so skipped the Sting match as I knew I was going to be swearing at the screen and skipped the Battle Royal as I was never that interested in it anyway.

And Rollins getting that reaction was a contrast to what other Forums said would happen. Looking forward to seeing who will be fighting at Extreme Rules for the title. Thinking elsewhere is that Cena and D Bry will doing a unification match at Extreme Rules. Why not go the whole way and have Cena and Nikki fight Brie and Daniel and put all 3 titles on the line in the match in a winner takes all match.

Seems like a naf attempt to bring popularity to two titles with little worth nowadays, D-bry was huge before the injury and he's coming back to being midcarded... It's frustrating to see especially given the way punk left. Those two together hot crowd reactions I hadn't seen for years.

Russ 31-03-2015 23:35

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I don't have a problem with WWE putting those titles on them - the IC strap desperately needed someone to take it seriously. The IC champ at one point was always regarded as the number 2 guy in the company.

As for the U.S. title...I believe this is the beginning of the slowing of Cena being 'that guy'. He might well win the Heavyweight title again at some point but I get the feeling they're now making long term plans for life after Cena.

MalteseFalcon 31-03-2015 23:42

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Which they need to do. Let's be honest, once Cena and Orton leave, who realistically can replace them? The trouble with Vince is he says he will push people but then panics when they don't get as over as he hoped, yet the guys he doesn't think can make it but get over with the crowd he buries.

Sorry to say, but I think WWE will be a lot better off with Steph and Triple H running things. NXT is doing brilliant, which is the brainchild of Triple H. Paige started there, doing well on the main roster.

Looking forward to seeing the Diva Search come back this year, had some good Divas come through over the years. Michelle McTaker, Layla, Maria to name a few.

Yes, I love Layla too. The Americans seem to go mad for the English accent for some reason. I remember reading an article a few years ago about that Supernanny who said one American family she was filming with the dad loved it when she said the word naughty so much she had to use a different word in the end.

Anyway back to Divas. If they could find another Layla or Paige I'd consider the search a success.

He was for the Layla one, that I know of for sure. Never forget No Mercy 2006 where Big Dick Johnson came out from underneath a present and danced for Miz, with Miz thinking it was Layla. Though I never understood how he thought Layla would get away with taking off her bra, and also Big Dick didn't have breasts either.

Yep always remembered that. How far back can people remember when they first started watching? I did watch beforehand but I believe my first major ppv was Backlash on channel 4. Can anyone put a date on that broadcast. 1am around 2001 I reckon, Jeff Hardy on Big Show from the tron? Was that it. Another one I was allowed up late for was Survivor Series, one of the best PPV's ever. Cage match with tables, test winning a battle royal, the 5v5 alliance and wwe match.

Backlash location was Chicago, remember it from the old paper TV guides.

MalteseFalcon 03-04-2015 21:15

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Yes, that was Shane McMahon v Big Show, April 2001 if I remember it correctly. My first PPV watched was as a real youngster, Wrestlemania 6. I remember watching the Hogan Warrior match and cheering when Warrior won.

I go through phases with WWE, every now and then I think sod this and don't watch for a few weeks but then something happens and pulls me back in. For me the best part of the year in WWE is the Road to Wrestlemania, but for some reason it sucked this year. The actual PPV was much better than the build up to it.

I go through phases with WWE, every now and then I think sod this and don't watch for a few weeks but then something happens and pulls me back in. For me the best part of the year in WWE is the Road to Wrestlemania, but for some reason it sucked this year. The actual PPV was much better than the build up to it.

Ah yes, Shane, Was after an interference from Test was it? Or Test came in and carried him out or both.

I remember that, the days when wrestling was good, wcw wwf ecw all putting on great shows twice a week, pretty much sucks today. Is that the match when Kurt angle suplexed Shane through the glass windows only it took two attempts he tried through the wrong one first and it didn't smash

Test came out and propped Shane up on a crane or something to win the match.

Gutted about AJ, only Paige left now really as a major face.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Even so, Paige has been a bit of a tweener lately. At least there are still some decent workers left, Natalya is always going to be reliable for a good match and Naomi can work too. Could be a good time so see which of the divas from NXT are ready for a call-up aw well.

People keep saying Charlotte is the best one on NZT, but unfortunately I will forever associate her with her dad, and as I don't like Flair then Charlotte will never be liked by me.

They've written Lesnar off TV for a bit then, bit tiring to watch now to be honest. Any idea who the cameraman taking the bump was last week?

I'm just gutted that AJ has left. To my mind, she was the second sexiest Diva after Stephanie McMahon (always had a crush on Stephanie since school).

Why do they bother having WWE title matches on European tours? It's obvious they're not dropping the title off TV so seems pointless. I guess nothing beats attending a televised one.

Insurrextion and the other one? UK ppv's

Money. People will pay to see a title match.

I remember alex Wright winning wcw cruiserweight championship in Germany. Held it for duration of the tour as well

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Back in 1992 on a UK tour Jake The Snake beat Mr Perfect for the IC Title at the Birmingham NEC but not only was it never acknowledged by WWE/F, for the rest of the tour Hennig remained IC champion. Many believed Perfect must have been injured and called an audible or failed to kick out in time but those in attendance said it looked like a 'legitimate' pin.

Obviously with the internet they'd have to run with the change if it happened now but it shows title changes do occasionally happen on tours. Plus when HBK beat Davey Boy in Birmingham that time a few years ago, nobody expected it as Davey never lost over here.

Has anyone been to a Live Event or at least a taping? I'll be looking at Wrestlemania when my Project Cars payout comes. It's a pretty heavy sum and I'd love to get one of those package deals along with a US tour. Previous ones for me have been restricted to shows at the Metro Radio arena when I lived up there along with the sole UFC event a while back.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I've been to a few Cardiff shows in the past, the first time I was sitting near the hard-cams so my view was similar to that of tv and it took a while to get used to not hearing the commentators funnily enough but the atmosphere was electric. There's an area at the back where they keep the production trucks etc, some of the wrestlers hung out near the fences after the show for autographs. I had to leave straight after the show but my mate went there and met guys like Santino, Jack Ryder, Carlito etc

I know someone who had the full Wrestlemania 29 package and even managed to get front row seats. She did the full Fan Axxess weekend too. It cost her something like £1800 but she said it was money well spent and once in a lifetime. She said Axxess was awesome, you get completely immersed in WWE and there was nothing that felt like a 'filler', each event and attraction (including queuing for 30-40 minutes at a time for autographs and pictures) was quality. She even stayed for the post-mania Raw which she reckoned was worth the lack of sleep alone :D

Certainly if I ever have the time and money I'll want to do the full weekend.

Does anybody know when the tickets for the nov tour goes on sale and where they going? Usually they put a paper on our chair at the arena with the dates on but didn't get 1 this time

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

Not sure, but the April dates for this year were announced 6 months in advance so imagine the November dates will be announced in May.

Latest Extreme Rules card:

John Cena (c) v Rusev w/Lana for US Championship in a Russian Chain match
Daniel Bryan (c) v Bad News Barrett for Intercontinental Championship
Seth Rollins (c) v Randy Orton for World Heavyweight Title in a Steel Cage match, with Orton's RKO banned
Nikki Bella (c) v Paige for Divas Championship
Dolph Ziggler v Sheamus in a Kiss My Donkey match (you get the idea of the stipulation)
Roman Reigns v Big Show in a Last Man Standing match

Cannot get excited about the card at all to be honest.

Russ 21-04-2015 05:32

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

This is one of my current bugbears with WWE and in wrestling generally - Orton's RKO being banned for the match. Like that's his only move, as if someone's finisher can only be made effective by that person. OK he makes it look good (ie Wrestlemania) but it's just a variant of the Stone Cold Stunner, the DDP Diamond Cutter and Cena's new Springboard Stunner move. It's like taking the RKO away from Orton makes him a 'weaker' wrestler.

OK they'll tease him getting disqualified as he stalks Rollings and looks like he's about to use the move but banning it in a match is not a compelling stipulation for me.

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

I know the cage is supposed to stop it happening, but personally I think Orton should have gone for banning the Authority getting involved at all and if they did he wins the title by DQ. But then they wouldn't be able to do a screwy finish on Sunday.

We all know the cage door opens at some point. It's hopeless really. The hell in a cell 'Demonic Structure' is about as strong as wet paper.

Russ 22-04-2015 08:12

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

The idea of the cage to keep people out is pointless too. With Jericho against Wyatt, Harper and Rowan were outside but played a part in keeping Jericho inside at times so J&J etc can still get involved.

Using Kane as the 'gatekeeper' is an interesting twist, I only hope they don't go down the route of him screwing Orton and this storyline of distension from him within The Authority all being part of a ruse etc - that's been done to death and will kill off a potentially decent angle. Seeing as WWE won't let Rollins drop the belt yet I'm getting a sinking feeling they may do something along those lines.

The IC Title - rumours has it Bryan's neck isn't fully healed plus he's suffering the effects of a concussion, I wouldn't be surprised if they make him drop the belt to Barrett due to concerns about his health. Good reason obviously but another way to annoy the fans, they shouldn't have brought him back so early if he wasn't fit enough especially when you consider his pointless return consisted of about 5 minutes in the Rumble.

What's wrong with Daniel Bryan and will he be out long?

MalteseFalcon 27-04-2015 15:10

Re: WWE (no spoilers for 24 hours)

No idea, nothing on Internet. Although last week there were rumours that said he had been rushed back into action before being 100% fit. If that is true, then it just adds weight to the lawsuit of CM Punk against WWE.
