BSkyB faces fall in subscribers as competition from BT and Netflix grows.

Its quite simple cut your prices and adapt to a much more competitive market.

How's this a bad thing for us the customer ? When BT launched BT Sport there were all kinds of BB deals to be had. New customers should see some good deals coming as well :D

I'd be a little more concerned were I an employee or shareholder.
, for me my wallets far more important. :D

l did not say it was a bad thing MM as for too long companies have hiked their prices willy nilly and now the competition is far more fierce then of course this will lead to better deals for customers hopefully.:)

So BskyB are still adding new customers, still making huge profits, are investing in cutting edge set top box technology. Looks pretty good to me, good to see Sky evolving as it's target market evolves.

A bit like the mobile phone market, the payTV market is facing saturation. Not good for investors but great for consumers as payTV providers now need to start taking customers from each other not just relying on new sign ups.

The same thing happened with fixed line broadband. Hence BT buying the champions league an EPL football then giving it to customers free.

BT extends free BT Sport offer to second football season

Doesn't the champions league contract kick in then , in my opinion that's when it will become chargeable.

That's not surprising to say the least and nor is this.

BT has confirmed that it will have to charge for Champions League football.

That is indeed the quandary that Virgin has to deal with because with it as it stands it is excellent value in the XL pack but if BT Sports goes outside the XL pack then Virgin will have to appease quite a few customers who have the XL pack simply for that reason.

Growth in cost base pulls profits down at BSkyB.

BSkyB also announced a renewal of its deal with Paramount, giving the company exclusive UK pay-TV rights to films such as Anchorman 2 and Noah.

BSkyB said it has renewed deals with five out of the six major Hollywood studios, leaving just 20th Century Fox which has a number of years left to run on its existing deal.
