I do however feel they may not be succesful with champions league coverage as reports are suggesting even bts own customers will have to pay, but never say never.

That could be the sticking point however I'm positive Virgin will come up with something to nullify the additional cost i.e. another BT and SKY Sports season ticket etc....

I'm certainly not going to be one of them on the SKY platform. I think BT Sports prices are a rip off.

£13.50 per month + £3.00 per month for HD + £5.00 per month for an additional box plus there's a £30.00 activation fee. In total over a year that's £348.00 which is roughly £29.00 per month! Not much cheaper than SKY Sports at all. Virgin Media customers don't know how good they've got it! :D

BT don't want to encourage the take up of BT Sport on the Sky platform its priced in a way to make the BT platform and Infinity look more favourable.

Expect new products and pricing from Sky to combat this , nearly anyone can already get 50% or greater with little effort , to be fair my comparable package with VM actually costs similar.

Switching providers is fast becoming the norm for many with offers all over the show.

If you want all the sport they're all a complete rip off , the BT v Sky war has pushed prices to eye watering amounts.

The £348 figure is supposed to include the new £5.00 European channel cost too. I forgot to add that into my little sum.

I don't think BT minds people viewing on the Sky platform. Just as long as they have BT Infinity and not Sky broadband. The costs that Chad quotes assumes a BT Sport customer taking broadband from elsewhere. The realistic cost of BT Sport (ie difference between BT Infinity with BT Sport v a competitor's product) is probably what PlusNet charges for access to BT Sport on the Sky platform - SD £6.00 pm (£72 pa), HD £7.50 pm ( £90 pa).

As Old Boy has posted before, Sky is heavily discounting to lock customers into long-term deals, partly because its Champions League coverage expires imminently.

Agreed. Will be interesting to see how the market evolves as BT integrates EE, and Vodafone enters the TV market, either on its own or via a tie-up with VM.

I'm not so sure about that , when I last visited the website it did everything in its power to push its own TV service before adding BT Sport to the Sky platform however I've not looked of late.

Of course they are hardly surprising , that said I still stand by my earlier comment I'm pretty sure you'll see new products and innovations on the way.

The market is the most competitive its ever been , people shouldn't also discount the threat of the OTT providers after all not everyone wants sport and the main traditional TV platforms are increasing subscription charges at an eye watering amount mainly due to increased sporting rights playing into the hands of the many low cost offerings.

Does anybody know how many xl customers vm has? Bt just released a statement saying they had a possible 5 million viewers you can bet your bottom dollar half of those are from vm which may just help in the bid to get the cl games in the xl package

I'm sure someone posted on here a while back there was 1.8 million XL customers.

Even if there is a £5 a month charge,it's not good value for money because they won't have games every week plus there is the winter break to consider.

It is the UEFA cup as well though, i'm not sure if there are games every week with that as they'll show all the qualifying games as well.

Like i said i'm not sure as i have no interest in it, what with my team being in Lge 2 :(
