Walsh: Conor has it to prove.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Wed

Quote:

Jockey Ruby Walsh believes young pretender Our Conor has something to prove when he takes on Hurricane Fly in the Ryanair Hurdle at Leopardstown on December 29.

Walsh admits the Dessie Hughes-trained Our Conor looked potentially top-class when running away with the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, but that taking on a two-times Champion Hurdle victor is a different matter altogether.

Bobs set for pre-Lexus workout.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Wed

Quote:

Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Bobs Worth will have a first start in Ireland in the Lexus Chase provided he pleases in a final exercise at the end of this week.

Trainer Nicky Henderson wants the gelding to have a busier time than last season - where he ran only twice - but Bobs Worth must show more sparkle than on his reappearance in the Betfair Chase at Haydock.

Grugy set to wait for Ascot.

Quote:

Sire De Grugy is set to skip a showdown with Sprinter Sacre at Kempton over Christmas and is more likely to have his next race at Ascot in January.

Trainer Gary Moore has named the Clarence House Chase (formerly the Victor Chandler) on January 18 as the next probable port of call for his Tingle Creek Chase winner.

Henderson looks to Ascot for Triolo.

Quote:

Hennessy hero Triolo D'Alene is in line to run in the Mappin & Webb Silver Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot on Saturday, ground permitting.

The six-year-old has been on a steep upward curve of late, winning three of his last four races with the historic Newbury feature highlighting that sequence.

Rain would help Green - Moore.

Quote:

Gary Moore is looking to the skies and rain ahead of Chris Pea Green's bid to win the Ladbroke Hurdle at Ascot on Saturday.

The four-year-old, who was seventh to Our Conor in last season's Triumph Hurdle, has not got his head in front so far this term but has run well in defeat on both his starts.

Halo to Cross swords in Long Walk

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Thu

Quote:

Celestial Halo and At Fishers Cross have been declared for a rematch in Saturday's Wessex Youth Trust Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot.

Paul Nicholls' Celestial Halo came out on top in their meeting in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury last month, where At Fishers Cross, one of last season's best novices for Rebecca Curtis, lost all chance with a dreadful mistake at the second-last and finished fourth

Nicholls delighted with Buck's

Big Buck's took an important step towards his eagerly-anticipated return to action with a gallop before racing at Exeter.

The champion staying hurdler, trained by Paul Nicholls, was partnered by Daryl Jacob in the two-mile workout over a circuit of the track.

Looking very fit, with his skin in good condition, he travelled alongside Finale Hurdle-bound stablemate Solar Impulse, ridden by Nick Scholfield, before going ahead near the winning line.

Butler withdraws appeal

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Fri

Quote:

Gerard Butler has withdrawn his appeal against the five-year ban imposed by the British Horseracing Authority over the use of banned steroids on some of his horses.

The results of a BHA inquiry held in November were released earlier this month, with Group One-winning trainer Butler having admitted all seven charges against him relating to samples of an anabolic steroid found in horses in his care.

Simonsig out for the season.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Fri

Quote:

Nicky Henderson has been forced to rule Arkle Trophy hero Simonsig out for the season.

A winner at the last two Cheltenham Festivals, having landed the Neptune Novices' Hurdle in 2012, the grey met with a setback earlier in this campaign but was expected to be back in time for the major races in the spring.

However, Henderson has now revealed that will not be the case.

"We've got to the point to make a decision to finish for the season," said Henderson.

Saviour puts Skelton in dreamland

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sat

Quote:

Dan Skelton's arrival in the training ranks has been little less than astonishing as Willow's Saviour brought about his 15th and considerably most important winner in The Ladbroke at Ascot.

It is under than four months since Skelton sent out the first runner from his purpose-built stable in Warwickshire and, on this occasion, he was beating his long-term mentor Paul Nicholls, whose Ptit Zig finished four lengths behind in second.

Thurles cruise for exciting Sceaux.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Sun

Quote:

Un De Sceaux remains a dark horse for the Champion Hurdle after comfortably justifying his prohibitive odds in the Horse & Jockey Hotel Hurdle at Thurles without coming off the bridle.

Successful in two French bumpers before making a big impression in winning two novice hurdles at Punchestown earlier this year, the Willie Mullins-trained five-year-old was the 1-16 favourite to beat two opponents who had little chance on ratings.

Captain Chris has been ruled out of the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton.

The nine-year-old was due to represent trainer Philip Hobbs in the Grade One feature but will now not be running after suffering a minor injury during a schooling session on Monday morning. While the problem means he will not have the chance to improve on last year's second in the race, Hobbs is hoping to have Captain Chris back in action next month.

My Tent Or Yours and The New One are set for their much-anticipated Boxing Day clash in the Williamhill.com Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.

Trainer Nicky Henderson and owner JP McManus are bidding to win the Grade One for the fourth time in a row, following the two victories of the recently-retired Binocular and last season's effort from the ill-fated Darlan.
