Sorry, Norton shouldn't flag it as malicious though. The image is just hosted on http://www.imgftw.net/

Maybe you should give it more time for the data to update?

I don't think that has anything to do with it as it freezes up on any TV Choice menu that's longer than two pages, even the A to Z.

And I can find the content by doing a search for it, so the box knows it exists. For example I can do a search for Yes Primeminister and it will find the episodes from BBC TV Choice, but I can't find them on BBC menu because it freezes before I get down that far.

what did he do?

Actually his name was Nige and he sent me a private message to reconnect the box to the VM server. At first it made no difference but later it all came together and was fine after.:)

It looks like they have found a solution to whatever was wrong.:)

Hi

Have to speak as I find, after highlighting my interest in TIVO last November"ish" and failing on the competition, no joy with 12 month free box, I got the first email a few weeks ago.
Next I got the confirmation email of delivery on my second choice date.

Got a phone call last night to discuss the installation on the 27th April but had to reschedule for unexpected personal reasons.
The great, English accent speaking bloke not only offered me a saturday am slot but said I can keep my V+ and it will be routed upstairs to my sons bedroom with no extra hidden installation cost and the monthly £6.50 I shouild normally have to pay for a second box is waived for ever.

I just need to sort out the HD / Sky Films / Sports package being transferred to TIVO and Sky films being kept on the old V+.

Virgin might not get everything right but they are certainly moving in the right direction with customer care AFAIAC

Negative bit, please more HD + Catch up choice .

A minor query this but how can you tell a recording in "My Shows" has been watched? On V+ it stated "viewed", you can remember of course but when you have a lot of recordings it may get a little confusing. Is there a sign change or you just have to remember if you want to keep a recording and watch it again later (my kids do it all the time).

If you click in to the show it will ask you to resume the recording if it's been partly watched.

A Quick question on tuners.

If you want to record 2 simultaneous programmes on the same channel, does TIVo record both on the same tuner.

I'm interested in what happens if I include padding on each show. Does it use another tuner if available, or truncate the lower ranking of one of the shows.

Would be a nice feature if you could choose the tuner you want to record!

I would have thought it would use a free tuner if available as it would see it as a completely new recording request. Padding clashes should only occur if all three tuners are being used.

I presume you mean consecutive not simultaneous?

Thanks, not what I was hoping for to be honest, we often have several pages of recordings and could have 3 or 4 recordings of a series so it is just useful to spot the one you've watched last when looking at the list rather than having to select a recording and then see if it says "resume recording"

Another candidate for usability enhancement, Tivo has many features and a great tool for managing your viewing, justs needs some better usuability logic on the menus or information screens to make it easier to use rather than having to dive into menus and options to find a piece of information. V+ had it right with the status shown as recorded, partial view and viewed being stated in the equivalent to "My Shows" list. Tivo could easily do the same by just changing the small logo to the left of the title of the programme to a different colour or logo sign for the 3 stages of viewing say. That is all it would take.

This was another compliant of my wife about Tivo by the way, the battle for acceptance of Tivo in my house continues!

VM need to work with Tivo on adding those really useful features on V+ like this, don't get rid of what was right on V+, add to it yes which is where I hope Tivo ends up.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

I have to say that while in the initial stages the lack of communication was a real negative, since the actual launch (in spite of waiting for emails etc) I have been extremely pleased with everything.

Earlier on the thread I mentioned I had 2 Tivo's installed on Friday. One worked great, had some problems wtih the other that continued to get worse to the point that I could watch live TV, and record, but it had no network connection so couldn't do anything 'online' and would have run out of info wth the EPG in a week or so.

I am out of the country - left first thing this morning, but called on Tuesday to report the faults and they got me an engineer for Wed afternoon (it could have waited till I got back, but felt better that hubby would potentially have a full working box) which was brilliant.

He came and tested all the specific connections etc to the box, but as everything else was working fine, he eventually concluded it definitly was a faulty box. New box installed up and running very quickly though had to wait for EPG to load all over again before being able to put in the series links.

I have been so extremely pleased with all my service from VM in the past few months both on the phone (overseas and 'local') and with the engineers/installers who have been round to sort/install various things, and down to the VM staffers as well who frequent the forums. A FAR FAR cry from the old NTL days 11 years ago when I first joined.

I know there are still some unhappy with things, but for us we are extremely happy with the service, the value for money and most definitely with the TIVO!!!

btw - copied a series off the Tivo overnight before the swap and all was fine - just set the series to play 'all episodes in folder' and let it run while DVD recorded - so while it can't do it in the background, it can still do it if you don't need to be watching/using the TV.

Well I am just waiting for the installer to arrive, VIP50 and having my v+ swapped out, as it is to noisy for the bedroom.
