Kings aiming to reign for Pipe.

David Pipe has his fingers crossed Kings Palace will cope with ground likely to be faster than ideal when he bids to complete a hat-trick in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.

The five-year-old backed up a victory at Fontwell with an 18-length Prestbury Park romp over Creepy, who has since franked the form with a Grade Two success on this course.

Sire strikes in cross country.

Sire Collonges clung on in a thrilling Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham for trainer Paul Nicholls and jockey Ryan Mahon.

Sixth on his debut on this idiosyncratic track last month, the seven-year-old grey was a 7-1 shot for his return to Prestbury Park, but French challenger Pasquini Rouge and Shalimar Fromentro appeared to have it between them rounding the home turn.

The New One cemented his Champion Hurdle claims with victory in a dramatic renewal of the StanJames.com International Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Sam Twiston-Davies was content to bid his time on his father Nigel's five-year-old, and it was a game of cat and mouse from the top of the hill as old rival Zarkandar led, with the 2-5 favourite poised on the inside rail on the long run to the last.

Palace in sparkling show.

David Pipe's Kings Palace put up a slick display as he made all in the Grade Two Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Sent off the 10-11 favourite, Tom Scudamore was keen to assume control from the off and he set a decent pace up front, with his mount proving foot-perfect over virtually every obstacle, jumping like an old hand.

One camp fear Fly in Champion.

Sam Twiston-Davies believes Hurricane Fly is still the one to beat in the Stan James Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.

The New One, who is trained by his father Nigel, claimed Saturday's International Hurdle at Prestbury Park for the Naunton team, seeing off last year's Champion fourth Zarkandar in the process and securing his place at the head of the ante-post market.

Willie Mullins landed yet another big prize when Cheltenham Champion Bumper hero Briar Hill kept his unbeaten record under Rules by beating sole rival Azorian in a match for the Navan Novice Hurdle.

Noel Meade's exciting five-year-old Apache Stronghold missed the Grade One race, as did his stable companion Very Wood.

Ruby off to winning start.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Mon

Quote:

Rock On Ruby survived a minor scare to make a winning debut over fences in the Winter Gala Novices' Chase at Plumpton.

Harry Fry's 2012 Champion Hurdle winner and 2013 runner-up only faced two rivals, with one of those departing at the third fence.

Coming to four out, Noel Fehily's mount did not really attack the fence and sent the birch flying, but after that his jumping was safe and he had far too much class on the short run-in for his remaining rival, Lindsay's Dream. In the end he won going away, coming home comfortably clear at odds of 1-10.

Trainer Nicky Henderson has given Sprinter Sacre the green light to make his seasonal reappearance in the williamhill.com Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton on December 27.

The current superstar of the National Hunt scene had been due to run in the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on December 7, but the seven-year-old returned a dirty tracheal wash in the days leading up to that race and Henderson decided it was best not to risk him.
