russ d thats exactly my point, so many players simply want to play for man u because of their status and history so when it comes down to a player chossing between man u and another "english" club more often then not they choose man u or were before chelsea got to where they are now.

Do you think Jose would have come to Chelsea if they didn't have the millions?

Personally I'm glad he didn't go to Liverpool. I think that on a level playing field Benitez is a better manager than Mourinho. It's easy for an above average manager to appear to be a great manager with the money Chelsea have.

But not to win the European Cup with Porto, and the Portuguese league at whoever he was at before.

It's all very well demeaning his achievements at Chelsea because of the resources but teams have spent and not achieved anything (like Newcastle) as well as Mourinho having a history of shock wins, using the best he has, etc.

Whereas all Benitez has done is spend on spanish and south americans at Valencia and Liverpool. And only has one trophy win to Mourinho's three.

The point here is not so much who is the better manager it is more who has the easier job, Chelsea, as Jose has shown can afford to waste millions, they can buy players just because other teams want them.
Personaly I think it will all get very interesting over the coming months, there are already press rumours that the Chelsea board are not happy with his signings or the way that the team plays.

I'm not demeaning his achievements at Chelsea, I'm saying it is easier to achieve things when you have all the money possible to buy whoever is available at any price. I'm not sure how you can accuse me of this and then go on to demean Benitez's achievements in the next paragraph. To win the Spanish league twice and the UEFA cup with a team other than the top 2 Spanish teams is not exactly a bad record, despite you rubbishing it, arguably harder than winning the Portuguese league.

sigh I give up, if you think any manager can win 2 premiership titles in a row just because of large budget then you seriously under estimate the diffilculty of management. jose is a good manager, sorry but its a fact he may be a sore loser but their is no denying he is good at his job.

when porto beat man u in the champions league which team cost more money to assemble?

Porto didn't 'legally ' beat United, they won on away goals after a linesman disallowed a perfectly good, legal goal from Paul Scholes, but for that myopic fool Jose would possibly still be at Porto along with Diddling Dogbreath.

No-one is saying he's not a good manager but do you think he'd have still gone to Chelsea if the russian hadn't been there?

Ruud van Nistelrooy  missed a second half penalty as Manchester United delivered another lacklustre performance in drawing 0-0 with Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.

Quote:

United hemmed Middlesbrough in their own half for much of the last 10 minutes, but never truly threatened a winner, and The Red Devils must now rediscover their scoring touch to hold off Liverpool for second spot.

I can't remember if I saw it on teletext or the paper but it looks like AC Milan have sounded Rudd Van Nistelrooy out about a move there, what do you think Shevchenko to Chelsea then?

The sooner we get rid of RVN the better. I said this after last season's FA Cup final and my view hasn't changed.

C'mon do you REALLY believe he would of won two premiership titles (in a row) if he had no money to buy the team he wanted? Yes he may be good at his job but not that good ;)

Probably because all his best players were already there Cech, Gallas, Terry, Makalale, Lampard, Duff, Robben, Gudjohnson, Crespo, and Cole for instance.
