VM get a lot of criticism on here ,some of it from me ,however I do feel they've closed the gap a bit more lately ,just makes you wonder on Sky's next move once VM add more HD and fully launch TIVO.

Sky seem to be putting a lot of effort into 3D, whether not this will pay off for them, time will tell.

I don't see it with 3D or at least until the TV's with no glasses come out.

SKY are now pushing 3DTV could not care less about that, the only place to really see 3D is in the cinema!

I agree, I would not be interested either until Tv's without glasses are of a good quality. I was looking at it from Sky's perspective, they have put money and effort into 3d, they obviously think it is the future for them.

And you are 100% correct , it may take off when TV's without glasses are out , but until then it's never going to be mass market.

I watched a programme on BBC news 24 a while back called click their gadget technology magazine style programme, a japanese manufacturer whose name escapes me at the moment is busy working on 3D without the glasses,so they are obviously aware of its current restrictions.:)

If they can get the technology to work without the glasses then who knows 3D may well fly,sky possibly are banking on this to pay off for them.

They have managed to get I think up to a 22" working, its transferring it to bigger screens that is the problem. As you probably know the Nintendo 3DS has a 4 " screen in 3d with no glasses.

Yes they gave the example on the show of it working on the smaller screens and said the biggest problems was transferring to a bigger screen.

Yes they did mention the Nintendo 3DS on the show as well.

The problem with glasses-less 3D is it has extremely limited viewing positions. Great for the small screen where you can near guarantee people will be looking at it straight on, but when you're looking at a main tv set you're not going to have an optimal room setup where you're sat in the viewing positions.

Actually Samsung have a 55" prototype, the real problem is the viewing angle.

Also the BBC have said there not pursuing 3D instead they are concentrating on HD.
