Don't want to start any false rumours running, but if you look at the Sky website, there is now no mention of Sky Atlantic (or anything else) being 'exclusive to Sky'.

Maybe just a change of marketing tack?

Also see http://www.sky.com/shop/high-definit...e/hd-channels/ . That's the page which previously showed some HD channels being exclusive to Sky. Not any more.

I'd like to think so but probably a change of marketing tack as you said. If you look at http://www.sky.com/shop/sports/home/...y-virginmedia/ they still show Sky Sports 3/4 and Sky Sports News as not available to Virgin......though we can hope they haven't updated that page yet :)

There are two chances of those appearing on vm namely 1) Slim chance, 2) No chance, and number two wins by a country mile if i was a betting man.;)

But you can but hope.:D

Can't see Sky opting to give Sky Atlantic and sky sports 3 and 4 with TIVO soon to launch after all Linear TV has always been there trump card.

Very interesting. In fact, hunting around Sky.com I can't see any references now to Sky Atlantic being "exclusive to Sky customers".

If Sky offered all these channels what would there unique selling point be ?

At the weekend (Saturday I think) I saw an ad in the newspaper that says ''Sky Atlantic exclusive to Sky customers until April 2012.''

Surely that depends on whether it was adding value? I can see the point of keeping Sky Sports 3/4 HD etc exclusive, as there is a big market for that, and there will be a number of customers who specifically get a Sky dish in order to get the extra HD Sports.

With Sky Atlantic, if the viewing numbers aren't big, then they may choose to end the period of "Exclusivity", as by gaining more viewers it would increase advertising revenues more than the number of new sales. Not saying that this is going to happen, but it would appear more plausable than it would have done before launch. Depends on how flexible they are with the business plan.

The sports would be.! skys huge selling point is sky sports HD sky let virgin have sky sports 1/2 HD because of ofcoms ruling, sky will walk over hot coals before letting sports 3/4 HD go on any other platform.

I can see your point of view , however if VM offered all Sky's basic channel range and inclusive on XL in HD the effect on Sky's subscriber base would be massive as people then would not be able to justify the £10.25 HD charge with Sky ,after all not everyone subscribes to sports and movies.

That is a different point of view, virgin will always be playing catch up regarding HD in my view, and i do not think skys own basic channel range has got the impact people think it has, people on sky possibly pay for many more channels then the sky ones in HD thereby they will be able to justify the £10.25 HD charge to themselves. So even if vm had all skys basic HD channels there are still plenty more virgin will not carry in the XL pack at no extra cost.

I would agree completely with that, it will be interesting to see what if any HD channels arrive in the near future.
