Agree Aug launch - I guess VM have being just a tad busy with the Sky Movies/Sports HD channels

Apparently Sky are releasing Sky movie classics in HD soon, anybody know if this will be included in our package in due course?

Film4HD is on Channel 429 now and the Sky Sports HD placeholders are up ready for launch on August 2nd :)

Sky1HD and Sky Arts HD will be free to XL, I reckon if we do get all the Sky Basics, they will be free as part of your XL subscription

Virgin Media has confirmed plans to launch Sky Sports 1 HD and Sky Sports 2 HD on its cable TV platform next month as part of the deal to sell Virgin Media Television to Sky.

From August 2, Virgin Media's subscribers will be able to watch English Premier League, cricket, Rugby Union and other sports in high definition on the two channels.

Accessing Sky Sports 1 HD and Sky Sports 2 HD will cost an extra Â£7 per month on any of Virgin's TV packages when also subscribing to Sky Sports in standard definition.

The addition of the two HD channels has been made possible due to carriage agreements for Sky's basic HD channels and Red Button content as part of the deal to sell Virgin Media TV to the satellite broadcaster.

The deal, which was completed last week, will also see Sky 1 HD, Sky Arts HD and the Sky Movies HD channels launch on Virgin Media soon, with details to follow "in due course".

Following the channel launches, Virgin Media will be able to offer 30 HD channels to its subscribers, including ESPN HD, EuroSport HD, BBC HD and ITV1 HD.

"As the new home of HD telly, we're delighted to bring our customers Sky Sports in HD at incredibly competitive rates," said Virgin Media executive director digital entertainment Cindy Rose.

"With the rapid growth of HD content, customers are demanding more and more from their TV service, and with our growing range of HD channels and on demand content in HD, Virgin Media is the best place for the whole familiesâ€™ entertainment needs."

To promote the arrival of Sky Sports 1 HD and Sky Sports 2 HD, Virgin will today launch an "extensive marketing campaign" on broadcast, print, outdoor and online media.

According to the VMTV/SKY HD carriage agreements VM may have access to all Sky HD channels current and future converted.

i.e. Sky Sports News HD is not classed as a prem channel or part of the Sports Bundle its classed as News & Events

I'm guessing this is maybe why the delay of the Sky Basic HD channels coming across.
