As long as you can see the picture I don't see what all the fuss is about. Companys have got people wrapped around their fingers with this HD with 5x the quality picture. Next year they will be bringing tellys out with 10x the quality pictures (SUPER HD) and you'll get the daft folk going out and buying them.

:D

You obviously don't have an HD TV.
Sports events are stunning!

Even if that picture is a pixelated mess?

For anybody who is interested I have generated a listing of all the ITV1HD programs that are in HD until 16th April. This was generated using DigiGuide.

Here is the link

Thanks for the itvHD info , i notice all the programmes say stereo sound i wonder if any of them will be in 5.1 sound. Also i just heard itv advertise the new series of the quiz show divided and im sure they said it's on itv1 and itvhd. Unless they just say that for all there programmes as they are all on itvhd just most are upscaled. A bit confusing really if that is what itv are going to do.

Yes I think they are currently telling people they have an ITV 1 HD channel now. Maybe when more people keep an eye out for the HD channel they may just start to advertise HD content in HD.

Yes but the result of the sport event will still be the same. I have v+ and yes I don't have a hd set yet but have seen the channel quality on various hd tellys and I still can't work out what all the fuss is about. If & when I do get a hd ready set theres no way I will pay extra for hd like sky1 hd sky sports hd etc & I only have the ones now because Im on the XL package with virgin.

I just think its all a big con & there will be something else new in a few years time (SUPER HD or whatever) what will make you want to change your telly again because the one you have bought a year or so ago won't be able to show a 10X quality picture.

super hd as oyu put is coming but still about 2-5 years away even sky wont be able to deploy it in current format, lets put it this way it take up 4-7 anagolue channel spaces on virign, but the quailty is about 12 times better than hd and 2 times better than cimena

Yep 3D tv is already in the pipeline and you need a 3d compatible tv for that too.

It has taken 25 years for HD to make a serious breakthrough, how long do you think it will be before SKY can commercially broadcast a super HD channel of over 4000 lines?

Personally I'd go with "not in our lifetime".

The bandwidth needed just isn't there.

So that they could use the SKY EPG slot for ITV1HD

It doesn't seem to be doing to well. It is too niche. If it does happen it will be a slow burner. With HD there is difference. 3D in its current form is a gimmick and will die off. 3D was tried before and was popular and then the craze died. Virgins approach is better on demand not channels devoted to it.
