To be fair, from the first launch of gig1 in southampton in sept 2019 to dec 2021 when they said it would be done, was a 2 year rollout schedule people were left in limbo for.

And you have more confidence than me in VM delivering before xmas!! ;)

I've had info from Cityfibre that puts me mid-late 2022 for my part of Ipswich, so if VM do hit their target I will perhaps go back to them (with a heavy heart) until CF reach me, although the second CF are available I'll move to them, even if there is some overlap.

I am less optimistic now, my connection has just come back up so it has only been down about 1hr 30 mins.

I look at it from a common sense approach which probably isn't the best idea when it comes to VM. VM know competition is rising fast and the competitors are offering a better service with regards to upload speed so if an alternative better product is made available to you before VM can provide 1gbit to you then there is a very good chance you switch to another provider and never come back. However, if VM can get 1gbit to you first then there is probably a 70/30 chance you'll think "meh, I have got 1gbit already and it isn't worth the hassle switching just for a bit more upload speed". That is what I hope they are thinking anyway. If they keep it going well into next year then they are going to be shooting themselves in the foot.

I'm not sure I'd call 55m for £62 vs 1000m for £40 "a bit more"

Still no Gig1 availability, perhaps not enough backhaul?

Sounds like the area is ready, VM just havent "made it available"

Just noticed my ip address has changed after my connection came back up earlier and it isn't anything close to what it was before. There weren't any VM vans at my street cabinet so the upgrades must have been more substantial higher the network.

Well i've had 1GB since last Saturday and its not disappointed me either.

Depending on the time of day i get between 880 - 935mb/s.

Does anyone know if this tier has any download\upload caps or restrictions?
Thanks.

Do these Power Levels look OK?

Gig1 still isnt showing as available in my area (Bournemouth). Is it likely taking time to show up on the website or could that mean it is not available yet on my local area?

It is only available in a few areas, certainly not mine! Do you have any reason to think it should be available in your area?

If you're on the edge between two network headends, you may be connected to a different one that you think.

For instance up here, places that are within the Manchester City boundary are actually connected to the Ashton-under-Lyne for the Gig1 rollout.

Only the ISPReview article - have not heard anything direct from VM though

Ah interesting OK.

Will wait and see. Not desperate for it but would potentially like to add it when available depending on total cost

So maybe 1G is on its way.

Well they did whatever they were doing, my connection went down (twice) for about an hour.

Ultimately, there was no obvious change, even my IP remained as before & 1G is still not an available option.

If anything it is the other way round. Historically they have been very quick to update the website with new services and when you ring up to upgrade the call centres don't know anything about it and say it isn't available on their system.
