Radical change is needed; simply waiting for gridlock is a cop out.

I would have thought that Glasgow has dangers other than bikes running traffic lights ;).

I used to think that cyclists should be reclassified as vermin, but then i had the chance to calm down and realised how unfair that would be to vermin ,now i think being classed as not human would suffice .

l am not a fan of cyclists to be perfectly honest given what l see on a regular occurrence out there all the time but typical of the rank poor planning of local authorities no wonder its a motorists/cyclists battle zone out there as there is no consistency of planning as you have a cycle lane that goes on for 200 hundred yards then there is no cycle lane and then there is one for 50 yards and then nothing and so on and so on and add that to the poor planning of many of our roads for the motorists and you can see why there is a lot of antipathy between the motorists and the cyclists.

Near where I work there is a lot of cycle paths. Since the 2014 commonwealth games Glasgow has many cycle routes.

However I still see many cyclists either on the pavement or just on the road, they never use the specially created lanes. What a waste of money.

Also I of course observe drivers too, again many running Amber lights or red lights. I am a pedestrian and walk a lot, there for I am always watching and awareofmy surroundings. Perhaps it's my OCD or partly as I got knocked down by a careless speeding driver when I was 13.

I see cyclists jumping red lights in Manchester City centre every day. If you happen to be on a green and crossing the junction when they cross on red you get the middle finger from them.

It's shocking that so many cyclists do that. Then even though they are in the wrong they harass the people in the right.

Wouldn't be that if they ran a red light straight in to the path of a car!

So you can use emojis. Well done.

What a pointless post.

Actually round here they are not. Even when there are designated separations along the cycle ways they still encroach on the pedestrian side. Also along the seafront promenades there are foot high lettering indicating that they are pedestrian only but these are blatantly ignored. and to top it off they still ride along the ordinary street pavements which they very well know are not cycle ways.

Recounting a banal 4 year old anecdote and pronouncing all cyclists to be idiots is pointless. I responded in kind.

If there are local issues you’re not happy with, report them to the council and/or the police?

Sadly the council are excellent at setting up regulations but lack the personnel to actually police their various decisions..and the police aren't going to be able to do much when they only have my word for what has happened. It will take injury and possibly a death before anything will be addressed. The police also have enough to do with the usual level of criminality in the area. We don't even have a regular visit from any traffic wardens to deal with the poor parking in the area let alone anyone to deal with rogue cyclists. I'm a cyclist myself but I don't behave the way these idiots do.There are more than enough designated cycle paths without them using the pedestrian only sections.

Give the Authorities a chance at least. It is a thin blue line but if you don't report the issue and an injury/death occurs, you'll likely regret not having done so.

Re: [Update] Cyclist convicted of "wanton and furious driving"

Already had a word with my local representative..but as I said lack of any real resources most of whom are chasing litterbugs in the main high street of the town and the smaller boroughs like mine are at the end of the line. They recently changed the rules on dog walkers but as far as I'm aware no one has been pulled up about breaking those..not enough staff.
