Isn't netflix on the vm tivo?
You can get netflix on any uk broadband provider you just need a laptop or smart tv, roku, firetv etc it's available on most devices.

Spotify is the only app that I know of that will shortly stop being available on the TiVo (for some it has been removed already).

Not heard anything about the Netflix app being removed, I would be very surprised if VM scrapped the Netflix app or blocked them on broadband after what Mike Fries the CEO said recently:

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/10...es-vm-ceo.html

Edit: Just checked with somebody. Netflix is not coming off VM and is still available via TiVo and broadband.

Can someone confirm, as we are getting rather confused. You cannot get Netflex on VM now.

Spoke with VM CS. and they say its no longer through VM.

Can someone confirm this, and if so why ?

Netflix is still on the Tivo, I don't know how you picked up any message that this was not so.

You don't pay the subscription for it through VM, you pay Netflix directly. Maybe that's what has caused you to be confused.

As youview which BT use has the sky store app, however if the channels do appear on BT one must ask questions of VM as to why it isn't on VM and maybe it is VM that's the problem.

None yet but we think Universal HD will be in Autumn and FOX News anytime now.

I can't see anything that says BT is getting Sky 1 and Atlantic though I would welcome the development. That post says"Any plans for Sky 1 and Atlantic to come to Plusnet TV. Like BT?" Where is the evidence to say they're coming to BT?
In fact, BT has lost the Sky-distributed Fox channel so things are going in the other direction!

The doubters have been proved wrong. More evidence that this is a golden year for content additions. I suspect Arthur will be treating the VM staff in his local shop to celebratory donuts. :)

Just been chatting to somebody, we now have all HD channels apart from Channel 4+1 HD,
4Seven HD, S4C HD full time, CNN HD, Boomerang HD Nick Jr HD, Disney HD, Disney Junior HD, Disney XD HD, Premier Sports HD, MUTV HD, LFC HD, Box Nation HD.

Are there any other channels on VM without their HD variant?

Channel 4+1 HD and 4Seven HD are currently Freeview exclusives.

They were created to help to drive up takeup of Freeview HD devices and will be extended to other platforms at some unknown point.

We get S4C HD, but for some reason it's only part time

Of the HD channels that we don't get, it seems that apart from History HD and CNN HD (which is expected to join) there's now only childrens channels and standalone premium channels left :)

I guess you can expect to see lots of rolling predictions for the arrival of these channels on this thread now that Universal HD has landed.

Interesting that E! HD and E! +1 weren't added with Universal HD but no great loss.

Liberty Global and independent television, film and digital production and distribution company All3Media have agreed a major multi-territorial original programming partnership.

The deal, for four major original drama series over the next two years, marks the first time that Liberty Global has agreed to a multi-territorial deal with a production company to create exclusive programming for its customers. The shows will be made available on demand for customers of Liberty Global companies across Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The deal has been spearheaded within Liberty Global by Virgin Media.

“This is a great opportunity with Liberty Global and Virgin Media to develop new dramas that are designed to appeal to a global audience, to be watched on multiple platforms and to become long running returning series,” added Jane Turton, Chief Executive of All3Media. “For us, this initiative fits squarely with our core strategy – to grow our scripted output, creating world class dramas that return series after series. To be able to do that with Liberty Global and Virgin Media as partners is exciting.”

“Earlier in the year I said that this would be a big year for TV at Virgin Media and I wasn’t kidding,” declared Virgin Media’s David Bouchier. “Through leveraging Liberty Global’s financial muscle and its investment in world-leading production talent, we’re not only innovating but we’ve taken the exciting leap into commissioning all-important original premium drama, which we know our customers will love.”

Liberty Global sign new deal with Discovery for Virgin Media.

Liberty Global has confirmed that they have sign an new broadcasting deal with Discovery and the new multiplatform agreement spans 12 markets in Europe and entire portfolio of Discovery and Eurosport Networks, including first-time ever full and unique coverage of Olympic Games beginning in 2018.

But no new channels is set to launch on Virgin Media UK we have all of them.

Maybe Eurosport News will relaunch in the UK on Virgin Media?

That's probably a placeholder to obtain/keep a valuable SD slot on Sky.

S4C HD has now been removed by VM both on and off the EPG, so it looks like we aren't going to get it full time after all.

We have look that the Virgin Media Ireland channel lineup and found that this new Discovery deal is maybe more good for Virgin Media Ireland viewers as they are missing the following Discovery own channels:

-TLC HD
-TLC +1
-DMAX +1
-Quest +1
-I.D. +1
-Animal Planet HD
-Animal Planet +1
-Discovery Science +1
-Discovery Turbo

Thanks for the article. Looking forward to see what they have up their sleeves

I suspect that this new content will be shown 'on demand' only. This being the case, I think that VM should create a new channel on there to group all their exclusive programmes together. Otherwise, I suspect that most viewers will not watch these programmes, which would be a waste.

For example, how many people have watched 'Kingdom'? If VM advertised it as 'only available on Virgin Premier Television HD on demand' or 'exclusive to Virgin Premier Television HD on demand', this would give all these exclusives in one place and customers would be accustomed to hearing it. This would encourage viewers to seek it out. They should also advertise this generally, not just to Virgin customers, to conjure up new subscribers.

This does seem like a good development and it looks as if there is much more to come. An exciting time to be a VM customer, particularly with a new Tivo just around the corner.

On the "Virgin Premier Television on Demand" idea.

Why not relaunch Virgin1 and launch Virgin1 HD.

And use the All3Media back catalogue to full up the channel from launch.

Odd, as I thought ITV Encore was being lined up as a premium channel unless ITV plan to have a bouquet of pay/premium channels along with their free-to-air ones?? I don't see how a ITV PPV channel fits into ITV's current model.

On a different note, I noticed on that Ofcom page that Vodafone now have a few channels licensed. Everyone it seems is jumping onto the tv bandwagon at the moment...

Well, all the VM exclusives are on demand right now. The advantage of having a named channel on which on demand programmes appear is that people start identifying with it. Virgin should also have a link to it by channel number to make it easier for people unfamiliar with on demand.

I certainly have no objection at all if Virgin want to create a linear channel, but I don't know if this would profit them to do so if some of the programming was to be exclusive to VM. They would need a decent sized audience to make a linear channel pay.

The BBC have the UK rights for the Olympics so any On Demand content will come from them.

Can't really see Virgin Media also adding a separate source to TiVo for the same content.

EDIT: Have re-read the article and have realised it's talking about post Olympic content. So it could be a possibility, but it sounds like the rights negotiations could take a while so doubt it'll be August:

Quote:

After the launch of the global digital product in August, the Olympic Channel intends to foster partnerships with other Olympic stakeholders, including rights-holding broadcasters and National Olympic Committees to develop localised versions of the Olympic Channel. Localised versions will offer language-specific user experiences on digital platforms, and will also include linear television programming options.

I think this is going to be very significant when it comes to Virgin Media moving into 4K content.

The potential Discovery content speaks for itself.

I can see Eurosport investing in 4K coverage of the big tickets events they have such as the Olympics, Tennis Grand Slams, Tour De France etc. perhaps go back to having secondary coverage of the World Cup and Euros etc..

Would be nice to think Virgin Media could be front of the queue for this.

Maybe in future i will return to VM they are certainly improving but right now i'm happy with access to hundreds of apps via android tv box that doesn't grind to a half, hundreds of channels via my us sub and vpn, countless on demand content from Showtime, hbo (vm don't have this but may once new talks with SKY happen), content from netflix amongst other networks, live sport including 3pm kickoffs, ufc, wwe, cricket, rugby etc, 1080p quality movies from Netflix and other providers such as HBO,Showtime, Starz,Cinemax, HBO nordic and still paying less than half of what i used to pay VM, did i mention too 78mbs bb unlimited with 20mbs upload (like vm though SSE do throttle but nothing too bad). Paying around £45p/m all in.

Indeed there's always alternative ways though to get tv which for obvious reasons i won't discuss here, but you are correct Netflix already have found a way to stop vpns and smart dns on their services, cactus vpn have already admitted defeat but i'm quite happy with uk netflix tbh.

Ok, so assuming you meant to say that some of those channels are not trash (which I agree with, actually), why do you want the ones that are?

If you have been following this thread, you will know the answer to the top two channels you have listed.

ITV Encore is exclusive to Sky for the initial 4 years of broadcasting and Sky Atlantic is currently only available on Sky. The Sky Atlantic situation may change and there has been some speculation about this, but no hard news as yet.

As for the new Tivo, around Christmas/early new year.

Say I put a series of a show in from on demand the issue is it starts with most recent backwards, but say like series 6 of greys anatomy starts from episode 23 not episode 1

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2

You can press the yellow button when in a folder and sort it by series. This then puts the sort order to start from Series 1, Episode 1 (if available)

One or two new channels are possible, more exclusive content for on demand, an expanded on demand library of UKTV Play content (confirmed) and of course, the new, super duper Tivo box!

The Amazon app is something else to look out for but no formal announcement has been made yet.

But yet another loss in total TV customers:

http://www.csimagazine.com/csi/IPTV-...rty-Global.php

"In the UK, Virgin Media now has 3.713 million video subs versus 3.737m at end-June 2015, after losing 7,200 television customers in the quarter (an improvement on the 12,200 lost at the same time last year)."

Their smashing broadband but TV still on the slide

In broadband yes but their tv customer numbers are falling, most are probably just cutting the cord.

With the likes of hyperoptic launching 1gbs and testing 3gbs service VMs broadband numbers may start to decline in time.
Personally i don't see the point in moving to get more speed if you don't need it, 78mbs does me perfectly with plenty left over just a pity about the clowns who run my isp daisy communications lol.
