Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Hi Jo, so nice to hear from you all again. We had a nightmare of a move. On the Monday of the week that we were due to move out, we found out that the house we intended to purchase, had no building regs. Our buyers were moving in on the Friday, we had no choice but to pull out of the purchase of the no regs house, rendering us, in effect homeless. We had to rent, another nightmare, the flat required an itinerary (not the correct word) to drawn up, then a gas certificate, they found a gas leak, all this prevented us from moving in on the Friday. So we went on a short break over the weekend. We had ordered £1600 worth of carpets for our intended house, and when we tried to cancel (on the same day order was placed) we were told we couldn't have the money refunded, only a credit note. I could go on and on, but I am very happy to say that all's well that ends well. We were very fortunate to find a modest little bungalow, just as well as Mr T had to have a complete knee replacement op, rendering him unable to climb stairs. I think fate finally took a hand, thankfully :) We are very happy now, and we have good neighbours, ah bliss.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

That does sound like a nightmare move but so glad you ended up on the right side of good fortune. Getting good neighbours has to be the icing on the cake.

We only intended staying in our house for 5 years but kept putting off the move to a bigger and better home as we were soooo reluctant to move away from all our neighbours who, 40 odd years later, we now consider to be some of our closest friends. Which is really off topic as it should be in the Happy Thread. :)

Off to look unhappy as a penance. :D

Better the devil you know eh Jo? We downsized moving from a 4 bed, 2 public, 2 garage, long driveway, to a 2 bed bungalow, no driveway but our Council tax is in a higher band......... don't ask

My Nan had to have an ECG done because of some breathing difficulties, apparently it showed some irregularities on it and then had a pain in her side. Being referred to the rapid chest pain clinic for further tests.

I know who I blame for this whole episode, my aunt who goes on at me for not stressing her out but it is fine for her to stress her out every day.

What I really hate is HSBC trying to ram Trusteer Rapport down your throat. No I don't want a very suspect program that hooks the OS API's at the same level as viri and cripples the machine for all other functions. No way.

When it is hacked, as such a tempting target will inevitably be, the banks are going to <insert suitable word related to excrement> themselves and everybody who has installed it will have their bank details compromised.

I don't think I would feel safe banking on line, it is better to talk face to face, I Don't like the hole in the wall either .

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

I'm happy with on-line banking but I have my own precautions in place that I trust further than the banks. In 15 years only 5 odd suspect attacks all caught before they could gain access. :)

I am not complacent but knowing the machine, I trust my instincts.

Lister is looking OK now, don't like the new A&E department, spent all night there with my Nan who had a nasty bout of chest pains last night. Doctors say it isn't her heart, but at any rate kept her in all last night and likely to be discharged today. Had no sleep at all, and got to go and sign on at the Jobcentre.

Yes l hope and pray that she finds something soon as what irritates me is they changed the job description in these last couple of months and stated that she needed to drive which for someone who is 52 is very hard to suddenly do and thus they have replaced her.

With certain issues in the family it can be a bit like extracting teeth except the pain goes on for longer dilli.

She may have no redress due to the individual circumstances but it might be worth her getting some advice from the CAB on what happened.

Yep you only ever seem to lose the ones you need! It's a long short but might it be worth checking with the company concerned? Depending on what it relates to and how you paid you might not need the receipt.

Usually l wait three days and then eBay will send them a reminder of payment to them so a bit more patience is the wisest way currently Mark IMHO.

I'm just impatient that's all. Cross more with myself, as I usually block people with 0 feedback bidding on my stuff and forgot. Strange thing is, he suddenly got 2 positive feedback left, both of which were private auctions. If I was being uber suspicious, I'd think that these 2 feedback were false.

Maybe the buyer will prove me wrong, but I left a note on second invoice saying if no payment within 48 hours of the sale, I'd open an unpaid item dispute through eBay. See if that kicks his butt into gear.

Yip I've had some nasty stuff said about my youngest when he experienced some heavy bullying, this went on for a while before we moved him schools and the parents of the children who were picking on my son spread nasty lies about my son after we moved him schools (Yes the parents) which at the time really upset me until a really good friend gave me a card and on the inside she had written lies & gossip are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots and I thought how true.

Oil slipped on Monday as a rallying dollar weighed on the commodities complex amid a bearish price outlook by influential Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs and risks of growing oversupply.

Crude oil prices erased early gains of more than $1 a barrel on worries of turmoil in the Middle East after a major advance by Islamic State militants in Iraq and renewed air strikes by a Saudi-led coalition against Houthi militia in Yemen.

Understandable - I was thinking all sorts of awful things while I was in hospital having all the tests. The best thing you can do is carry on being supportive and ready to listen if she wants to talk about it. It's awful when the ones you love are suffering. Hope it all turns out OK.

Clearing mine out tomorrow, buy stuff and think will eat it but it sits there for months. Just before Christmas 2014, I found a load of party food bought for Christmas 2013! Need a good clear out. If you have nothing in the chest freezer, I would suggest turning it off at the wall as it drains energy apparently running an empty freezer.

Our chest freezer currently washed out and sitting in the garage switched off.
Just using fridge/freezer over the summer period, bearing in mind getting closer to 'rabbit food' weather.

Yeah, wish I liked salad more. I mean don't get me wrong, I will eat salad. But I couldn't eat it every day during the Summer months. I still like my same old food.

How about a chicken and mushroom Pot Noodle with a tablespoon of vindaloo paste mixed in. That'll spice things up a bit.

Hope everything goes well for you tomorrow den.

My Mum received a phone call yesterday and she has to go back to hospital tomorrow, although I'm naturally worried I'm trying very hard not to worry too much till I have something too worry about. Still living in hope that it's nothing too serious!

Its my sisters 16th wedding anniversary on Friday, and they are going away for 2 nights so as I'm looking after my Nephew & Neice.

So I thought I take them to London with my mum, But where we go might be an issue.

As the London Dungeon will be £94, and the London Eye £71, so I must see what isn't so dam expensive.

Depending on the weather the Olympic Park ought to be on your agenda as well as Boris' cable car.

Thieving ****!

Was in Iceland this morning and dropped £70 of gift vouchers. I realised within a minute but turned round and couldn't find them. Got staff to check CC TV and sure enough someone came up behind me and picked them up and walked off. Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour.

Seen as its clearly on camera I have reported it to the Police. I may not get them all back but this person needs to know that they can't get away with that! They should have handed them in. One of the staff seemed to let on that they were a regular customer and could easily ID them.

Really want to punch them in the face!

Oh, and relatives. I have an aunt who has lived in Shropshire for 40 years now. She wants to move out of her flat, but the 2 bungalows the Council have shown her she has decided she doesn't like. We have offered solutions to all the problems, but no she wants to hold on for another bungalow.

Wonder how long before they tell her to get lost?

Well I called the Police and have a crime ref now. Good thing is its all caught on CC TV and after speaking to security they can identify her.

Not really that shocking is it? I personally get quite anal about keeping things safe. I have lost things before and not got it back but always in the end blamed myself for not keeping them safe

I agree it's not shocking in this day and age. It's going to cost a lot more in resources than what it's worth too. I'd just kick myself and hope to be more careful in future.

I do to, but as I mentioned I had just taken stuff out of my pocket to get some change and dropped them while trying to put it all back. I noticed literally a minute or two after it happened.

They were only on the floor for a minute or so and the person that came in after me just picked them up and pocketed them. Thieving ****!

I know I won't get them back but its the principle. Don't steal. If you find something, hand it in.

Even the most basic theft cases will end up costing £1,000+ by the time they go through the criminal justice system. Setting a limit below which crimes are just written off is a terrible idea IMO.
