The officials in the Everton v Chelsea game were poor. The 2nd Chelsea goal was offisde. and the Ref was a berk in my view. Instead of allowing the game to flow, he kept blowing his whistle.

And to cap it all, at the end Drogba went in for small tackle, and the ref blew for a foul.

Very poor officials in my opion

Apparently the hammers aren't paying his wages, there is a loan fee of three million though. Not sure about him tbh, he used to go missing for arsenal and who is going to make way for him, not noble or kouyate imo, also he's currently under a FIFA investigation for his world cup sending of and betting shenanigans, other than that he's a top signing, wonder if there is a buy clause in there somewhere.

I don't swing that way :)

I meant, what club doesn't try and expand its revenues. I read somewhere that west ham were going to try and break into the USA market, and set up a connection with one of the clubs there (after world cup interest, and other clubs going into that market etc). Same for asia with all clubs

The writer had time on his hands, it was a non-story...branded as man utd vs man city..because he thought he might get more interest

Replace both those teams with others in europe...same story applies

hence my short, perhaps inelegant, but concise response. "Doh" :D

Some players are prepared to sit and take their big wages each week as once they have that cosy life they generally lose the hunger to change things in their career.

Well it looks like they won't be signing anybody according to the latest reports and Mr Wenger is apparently refereeing a charity match.

Wenger confirms he wants to buy..

'blah blah blah the solution isn't always to buy but we want to'

You were saying my old friend.

I don't understand why Arsenal didn't go for falcao...far better fit for both player and team...except for not being a young player, which Wenger prefers

from BBC
Guy, Arsenal fan, London: It doesn't make sense. If Arsene reckons we don't need a striker then don't sign Welbeck. If we do, then why wait till now and why not go for Falcao?
Kevin in Hornchurch: Last-minute madness will make no difference whatsoever. Man City and Chelsea will battle it out for title. Liverpool Arsenal and Utd battle for Champions league places. Spurs & Everton for 6th and 7th. So predictable. Sad but true. Arsenal be worst of the Best. Spurs be Best of the Worst

I wouldn't mind Welbeck. He isn't world class but it's a squad player who can do the job we need. He could help free up the wingers as well. Although Sky are now saying it's a long way from any deal. I guess the loan/buy issue may complicate it. I would rather sign him permanently.

I am not sure we need a World Class forward either. The talent behind Giroud/Welbeck/Someone else is very good but we need a decent enough forward to exploit that.

Apparently the latest news is that Arsenal have met the release clause fee for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

No one credible seems to be reporting that. All based off Twitter me thinks. Arsenal say Welbeck is not having a medical and isn't coming. Disappointing.

It's nice, for once, to watch it all unravel knowing your own business, inwards anyway, is already done.

Chelsea easily did the best this summer. Arsenal simply replaced what left, minus a defender, and got Sanchez who is great but not what we needed. United got some star players but in positions I would argue they didn't really need with the exception of the left backs. Chelsea did so well with Costa and Fabregas.

For once we have done well. Worked out what we needed early, and got it all done with no fuss. Even The Remy deal was quick. I think the balance is very good now compared to the last few years. You seem to be in the same situation again, where you know what type of players you need, but they don't seem to be coming, yet anyway. Same with United. It's lovely to have all these attacking options, but as we found out ourselves, there's more to a team, as I'm sure you all know.

Yes l remember us doing last day deals and as we all know we broke the bank to get the over-rated Andy Carroll and what a flop he was.

I try not to remember that day Den. We blew around £75 million on a forward who stopped scoring and a defender who forgot how to defend most of the time.

Overall l am pretty happy with our transfer business as well apart from replacing one certain player with another.

Insane offer for an injured player

Here

Quote:

Ronald Koeman is in the market for a winger and Saints have been linked with Townsend for several weeks. If they can get $26 million plus an England international winger for a player who is currently injured and has had one breakout season in the PL, maybe that is good business for Saints.

I think everyone will be happy with this deal. Arsenal get a striker who has played in the PL. United get £16 million, Welbeck gets more football, England get Welbeck to get more football.
