Re: The Xbox One Thread
Ok i have messed around with things and i still have the problem which makes watching TV unusable through the console, i haven't contacted MS yet as i wanted things to settle down first and give them a chance to fix this issue with a possible update, also looking at this thread there are loads of people with the same issue and some of them are in the states.
I have again gone back to the old way of viewing TV. http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/x...t/1625661.aspx Things i have tried: Snapping an app while watching TV = picture still freezes Swapping HDMI cables around = Picture still freezes Turning off 'Instant On' = Picture still freezes Changing my cable box to 720P output = Picture still freezes Swearing at it = Picture still freezes |

For those who got Forza 5 via the Day One Edition:
The card with the QR code actually gives you the game plus a "Day One Car Pack"... but the QR code only seems to add the game to your account (at least for me and various other people), so you may need to also manually enter the second code listed on the card to obtain the car pack. |

I think Game were selling the Forza Limited Edition pack which included the 'Day One cars' it was different from the day one cars version of the game, see the bottom of this link. http://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-US...M5_LE_Announce edit Actually looking at the game site it does look like they say exclusive to the day one pack, however this probably didn't include the fact that all day one forza edition consoles got the Forza car pack too, and you could buy the Forza edition console from anywhere. |

I am really hoping they reduce the price of digital downloads as £55 is too much but that is cheaper than on the PS4 where they're are priced at £60 after Sony reduced them buy £3s.

---------- Post added at 11:42 ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 ---------- Well i had been having severe freezes while watching TV through the HDMI pass through making TV unusable so i had given up and connected it up the old normal way, however last night i decided to try again so i took the HDMI lead out the back of the TV and connected it to the HDMI IN on the console and i can't believe it, it has now been working perfectly without any freezing so i am a very happy bunny and don't plan on unplugging anything for a while! Also while playing Forza racing i needed to turn the volume up but the controller was out of reach, so i thought i would try 'Xbox Volume Up' and it worked, i had not tried that before and didn't even know the command. |

If I buy a digital download, the price should be a bit less than a disc-based game, considering I can't sell it, trade it in, lend it out or give it away. Publishers would rather people bought digital games for those very reasons, yet they are giving us almost no incentive to buy them by setting the prices way too high. Microsoft's first party titles are £44.99, which I think is still too high by about £10, but it's not awful. Third party titles are around £55 though, which is expensive and as you said, it's even worse on the PS4 with some games being £60. I know we're yet to see any sales cos it's far too early, but I bet when they happen they won't be great. Hopefully they will allow retailers to sell digital download cards and codes so that it introduces some competition. It would be cool if you were sent a QR code so you could just hold your smartphone up at Kinect. |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Not got Rivals but it does look fun. :)

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Got it on origin. Not greatly impressed but I'd rather have had another burnout game from Criterion so I'm biased :D I'm also more of a sim racing fan than arcade too. 2014 for me screams Project C.A.R.S and hopefully than new destruction derby game.
I'd like NFS if we could redo Underground 1 today. Just another one off game where the best available cars are the likes of Skylines and a Supra. Was a great game based on street racing. What I'm most looking forward for are Boxing and EAS UFC. Can't wait. They're console exclusives too so that better explains my decision to buy both consoles. We are without a doubt gonna get a Gears entry on X1 and already known Uncharted on PS4. |

No quick and easy access to Friends, Messages, Parties, or Achievements via a Guide-like mini-dash, unlike the 360. Parties are a mess, unlike the 360. Friends/Followers is a nice idea but badly implemented. e.g. There are no incoming "Friend requests" (Follower notifications) unlike the 360; people you Follow but who don't Follow you back are still classed as Friends rather than being in a separate Following section (e.g. a section with pending outgoing Friend requests); full Friends are lumped in with your one-way Followers, etc. There's currently no Dolby Digital, unlike the 360. There's no support for browsing media servers, unlike the 360. There's no support for media on USB devices, unlike the 360. There's no support for USB external storage, unlike the 360. There's no support for 3D BDs*, unlike the PS3. [* This may be deliberate, due to the Kinect 2 messing with active 3D glasses that use IR.] PAL DVDs are forced to 60Hz, unlike the 360. The HDMI passthrough is active-only, plus darkens anything put through it, plus causes issues with 50Hz sources. etc. etc. Some of these have been acknowledged (e.g. Dolby Digital and also the external storage issue), but we don't know if/when they or the others will be fixed. It's not all bad, as some of it is done very well, and it has some very good concepts in there, but overall? Hmm... Lots of work is needed... Yeah, fine, it's a "work in progress" and has "only just launched"... but some of these things should have been there at launch. Some people say "Oh but the 360 took ages to get those features" but that is utterly irrelevant. It doesn't matter if the 360 took ages to get any of those features, it has them now and therefore to maintain feature parity the X1 should have them now too. To be missing features the 360 has enjoyed for ages is bloody stupid, as is having a UI that seems to have taken a step backwards regarding usability in some areas. ---------- Post added at 22:01 ---------- Previous post was at 22:00 ---------- Oh, and another thing: The "Upload" app is not used to upload...It's just the viewing part of the GameDVR. Re: The Xbox One Thread
I do think I probably should have got a Wii U with Mario 3D World and let a few months go by to see which console to get tbh! There aren't any games I really wanna play on the One.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
But aside from Mario, are there any games you'd want to play on the Wii U? ;)
I think the Wii U will die unless Nintendo gets its act together and realises it needs 3rd party support to survive. It can't rely on Nintendo fans willing to shell out just to play a Mario game. The Wii U is already failing, and what should have been *the* Wii U killer app, *the* Wii U system seller, ended up pushing even fewer units than the PS4's "Knack", and is apparently the worst-selling 3D Mario of all time. It also can't have helped that Nintendo stupidly released it on the same days as Sony launched the PS4 in North America, and again in Europe. But, I guess that's all something for another thread in a sister forum :erm: |
Re: The Xbox One Thread

The fact Knack sold more is depressing but I don't really care about units shifted or console wars. The Gamecube was considered a failure but it had Super Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, and Mario Kart on it and it was brilliant. If anything I think the sales figures suggest a increase in what I call 'Bro' gaming. Where games like Super Mario Galaxy and The Last of Us get deserved critical acclaim before being shunted aside in the charts and in mindshare to the upteenth, uninspired, iteration of a identikit franchise. :( |

As I said a couple of weeks ago, I quickly gave up on the Orb mount and just plonked the Kinect at the base of the TV. Hardly an ideal position... I was browsing Amazon earlier this week seeing if any other mounts were finally available, and saw that they also sold this one and that it had some strangely mixed reviews. Some people had the same issue as me, where it didn't fit at all, while others had no issue at all. A couple of reviews mentioned that they had contacted Orb directly, and that Orb said a small batch went out with incorrect top parts, and that they would replace the part for free. So, I contacted Orb on Tuesday night via the email form on their website and via Twitter. http://orbaccessories.com/ https://twitter.com/ORB_Accs .. and received replies from both early on Wednesday morning. They were apologetic, and promised to send me a replacement top part. I gave them my address, and they contacted me again later that same day to tell me the replacement was in the post. It arrived on Friday, by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For. I've just set it up (I was out when it was delivered so had to go pick it up today), and... it fits! My Kinect is now finally on top of my TV. So, if anyone wants a mount and can't wait for the officially recommended PDP mount to finally be released, the Orb one is actually OK. Another bonus with the replacement part is that, as well as actually fitting, it also doesn't say "ORB" on the front like the original part did. Excellent customer service from Orb :) |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
