It may even be an 'New Channel' after all.

Discovery may axe Travel & Living for TLC to launch like Discovery are doing around the europe.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discove...vel_%26_Living

TLC has replace Travel and Living in the following parts of europe:

TLC Poland (Since October 2010)
TLC Norway (Since March 2010)
TLC Balkans (Since October 2010)
TLC Sweden (Since December 2010)
TLC Romania (Since January 2011)
TLC Denmark (Since October 2011)
TLC Latvia (To be launch next Thursday)

In the Netherlands, Investigation Discovery replaced Discovery Travel & Living on 4 July 2011.

In today's papers sky's awesome foursome adverts have changed. On the tv section it now says enjoy incredible shows on channels you won't find on free view? No mention of exclusive to sky anymore. Wonder if a deal has been done on Atlantic

I never think to deeply when looking at adverts. Perhaps it is just a change of target . ;)

It's more likely to be because Sky Atlantic will appear on the Now TV service in the next month or so. That's already been announced for early 2013

I don't see Sky Atlantic on a rival platform anytime soon , I believe Sky see exclusive content as the way to go something Netflix are starting to realise also , the content will soon be available on Now TV and available to everyone with the subscription money going direct to Sky , I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Possible - however the advert is very specific " Enjoy incredible shows on channels you won't find on Freeview" Would have thought it would say exclusive to Sky TV and Now TV subcribers if they wanted to keep it to themself.

Just checked the web advert though and it has some additional text which does refer to Atlantic being Sky exclusive - all very confusing - looks like my initial view was wrong

Enjoy incredible shows on channels you won't find on Freeview, including Sky1, Sky Living and Fox. Don't miss February's hotly anticipated US drama The Following starring Kevin Bacon on exclusive Sky Atlantic.

James Bond Channel to die again on February 25th on Sky Movies.

An Virgin Worker has told me that 'The TiVo guide shows the Bond programmes ending at 6am on 25th Feb'.

James Bond is broadcasting on Virgin Channel 410 (Also in HD on Virgin Channel 440) right now under the banner 'Sky Movies 007'.

You can already get sky Atlantic without subscribing to sky satellite tv.

You can get a skygo monthly pass.

So I don't see the point in now tv.

Also, we may also get Sky1 +1 and Pick TV +1. Does anyone know if this is true?!

Indeed so but for all we know they might have a exclusive deal with Sky for these channels or perhaps they are asking too much for these channels currently.

I started the 'Media Boy' (Was known as TV Boy) brand in 2006 due to noone reporting on the Telewest network given viewers info on what is set to happen on their network. All the Sky Digital news was everywhere on the web at the time.

I only posted on Telewest due to that being in my area.

-BT has also begun to talk to Virgin Media about selling its sports content on a wholesale basis for the company to use.

Fox/FX show a lot of UFC Stateside, so it wouldn't surprise me if they picked up the rights here.

Media Boy, is there any certainty that we won't have any problems regarding up to Three Sports Channels coming from BT in the Summer.

We know the problems we have from VM from adding new channels, ie cost etc. Could this be happening as Sky has already made a deal with BT.

You only need Sky for an Channel number.

-You need Astra or Eurobird to broadcast.
-BT will be using their own workers when you order BT Sports on Astra UK.

But BT need Virgin for the following:

-Need to sign an deal with Virgin to carry BT Sports.
-Take money from Virgin viewers and pass it onto BT.
-The deal will likely be an 'Pay as you go' deal like with all other add on channels (Sky Sports and MUTV).

They will, they'll just hardball Sky until just before the launch in hopes of getting Sky Sports in HD for BT Vision.

But with 3 HD channels and £1bn of rights I just can't see it being on XL. Maybe BT Sports 1 (presumably the one with Premier League) will be free and the other two are subscription?

I think BT Sports will NOT be on XL Package.

Maybe BT Gold will be if BT take over ESPN Classic....

Then we will see Virgin using the money they save on ESPN being on XL being reuse for new channels launching on Virgin Media.

*(Info I have seen on other web sites says ESPN and ESPN Classic are UK Channels with ESPN America is an Pan European channel.)

Why are you only looking at one aspect of the service? Presumably have BB and phone?

You should look at the total cost of all services and if all the services are equal, or suit your needs and sky is still cheaper, then move to Sky. When you add fibre BB from Sky though, their comparable prices take a hit. But then, maybe ADSL is adequate for you?

Yup, it finally triggered in my head that I don't need fast broadband because I don't download anything. Barring BT Sports being £22pm, Sky is cheaper for me because I don't need fibre.

yep just discovered that. bloody line rental.

So it's actually £5 cheaper, but still a rip off given the half price offer.

Might go to sky which is £103 for same stuff (less internet but more sports hd), and then move back when next half price offer is on.

If you are out of contract phone retentions, and get a new 12/18 moth contract because you effectively a "new" customer. I did it a year or so aago and will try it again when this contract runs out:)

TV XL with Tivo is coming out at £37.00 per month via Virgins website. You get 27 HD channels plus ESPN.

SKY Entertainment Extra is £31.50 for 45 HD channels. You will however have to pay an extra £13.00 per month for ESPN. You will also need broadband to get SKY's full on demand and catch up service.

What happens to ESPN, and the XL package, in the next few months could be a big factor in who offers the best TV service at the best price. Personally I think based on the above information, Virgin offer the best value for now.

I personally just ditched the Sky Premium channels but only as I wasn't watching them so I'm not sure if that would suit you. Vote with your feet, IMO Virgin are becoming too expensive for what they offer. Another step I took to reduce my bill was paying my phone line rental up front for £120 which saves a few £ P/M.

At the moment BT can only offer 66Mbps download speed but once they hit over 100Mbps I will be off completely as my loyalty remains with the savings in my wallet. Mrs Firmsky likes the TiVo but IMO the TV is becoming too expensive for what they offer compared to Sky.

TiV0 is still lacking in their biggest selling points, MRS and the iPad app. Once you can MRS most of the channels and watch the recordings via the VM app they'll be onto a winner.

Defo going to give them a ring. Internet doesn't bother me as very rarely get above 20mbps even on this 100mb internet.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.

Well, we decided today to ditch VM for Sky, they are now becoming expensive to have, and when my wife called them to complain they did not care.

They told her that there is no longer any retention deals, and that they would have given her the channels she wanted.

When the CS agent said about taking channels off, he mentioned take sports off, to save money. VM did not care one bit. We also got Sky cheaper than VM, we have kept the phone as it is good.
